Malina E Dumas provides experienced legal counsel to businesses, tribes and municipalities on the complex and constantly evolving regulations and laws that impact medical and adult use cannabis, hemp and CBD markets nationwide. She was first introduced to this emerging field through her work with tribal nations that were exploring business opportunities in these markets. Ms. Dumas' deep experience includes advising clients on many aspects of the business cycle, from quickly and efficiently obtaining licenses from state and municipal authorities to compliance with ever-evolving ordinances, regulations and statutes. She thrives on the challenge to maintain current knowledge on the patchwork of local, state and federal ordinances, laws and regulations in order to make sure her clients remain fully compliant. While at the University of Washington School of Law, Ms. Dumas participated in the law school’s Tribal Court Public Defense Clinic, where she represented tribal members that had been charged with criminal offenses. She also served as a summer clerk at the Navajo Nation Department of Justice in Window Rock, Arizona. Ms. Dumas is based in Portland, Maine. She earned her B.A. degree, cum laude, from Wellesley College and her J.D. degree, with honors, from University of Washington School of Law.
