Vijay S Choksi is an accomplished cannabis law attorney, who leverages an insider's understanding of the business to serve the commercial and regulatory needs of clients in the medical and adult-use marijuana industries. His in-house experience means that in addition to possessing detailed knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations that govern the legal cannabis, health care and CBD sectors, he understands their practical implications for operations. Former general counsel and senior director of compliance for one of Florida's leading vertically integrated medical marijuana companies, Mr. Choksi is also well-versed in corporate matters, and has negotiated contracts governing nearly all aspects of the business, including security, lab testing, business associate relationships and commercial leases. His broad experience includes handling privacy and risk management issues, securing use variances with the Department of Health Office of Medical Marijuana Use and developing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with a broad spectrum of state and federal regulations, including HIPAA, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Food Drug and Cosmetics Act (FDCA), OSHA regulations and Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). In fact, Mr. Choksi's role as general counsel involved him in nearly every aspect of the business, from media relations to information technology. He earned his B.S. degree from University of Central Florida and his J.D. degree from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law.
