Yi Z Martins is a specialized licensed marriage and family therapist, boasting over fifteen years of extensive experience in counseling children, families and couples across diverse settings such as hospitals, schools, family court services, and private practice. With over a decade immersed in system-centered therapy approaches, she has been deeply engaged in working with families and couples in various contexts. Ms. Martins remains committed to expanding her expertise by exploring and experimenting with modalities that compliment her systemic approach. In addition to her professional endeavors, she generously volunteers her time as a mediator with the San Francisco Community Boards and as a support group facilitator at the Asian Mental Health Collectives. As a dual-trained psychotherapist holding advanced degrees in counseling psychology and family law, Ms. Martins brings a unique blend of expertise to her practice. She has received advanced training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) from the UCSF Child Trauma Research Program. She has also served as a Child Custody Recommending Counselor (CCRC) at the California Superior Court Family Court Services in Alameda County. Through her private practice, Ms. Martins guides and inspires court-referred co-parenting mediation clients and reunification therapy clients, firmly rooted in her belief in the principle of the Best Interest of the Child (BIOC). She is a Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) and a Certified Co-parenting Mediator. Her comprehensive training includes Evolving Structural Strategic Family Therapy (ESSFT), Integrative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), ADHD Assessment and Treatment, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), acquired through the Bay Area ADHD Center. Ms. Martins has also progressed from Level 1 to advanced levels of Developmental Model Couples Therapy training (The Bader-Pearson Model) with the Couples Institute in Palo Alto. Specializing in ADHD-affected relationship counseling and co-parenting mediation, she is deeply passionate about her work with systems. Ms. Martins actively shares her expertise through her professional YouTube Channel, where she provides weekly updates on ADHD-affected relationships and co-parenting dynamics.
