Sandra L. Gottlieb
is one of California's leading community association attorneys and a founding partner of Swedelson Gottlieb, which limits its practice to the representation of California homeowner associations, including condominiums, planned developments, and cooperatives. Ms. Gottlieb has been practicing law for over 40 years, and she has provided legal counsel to community associations since the mid-eighties. She has lived in two condominium associations, including a master and sub-association, and a planned development. Ms. Gottlieb's extensive negotiating skills acquired in the early years of her practice have given her the ability to work with volunteer board members, associations' managing agents, and opposing counsel to achieve intended results and to provide sound counsel regarding association operational issues. She is admitted to practice in California.

David C. Swedelson
is one of California's leading community association attorneys and a founding partner of Swedelson Gottlieb. He is also the firm partner in charge of content for its widely-viewed HOA Law Blog, the best resource for the latest news and information affecting California common interest developments. Mr. Swedelson started practicing law in 1978, representing clients in complex business litigation matters. He began representing and providing legal counsel to community associations after serving on the board of directors of his first condominium association in the early 1980s. Mr. Swedelson has served on theBoard of Directors of four different community associations that he has lived in, and has utilized this experience as a board member to develop his unique ability to better understand how to work with the volunteer board members who lead his association clients. In addition to providing corporate and general legal counsel to his association boards and their managing agents, he also oversees the litigation team at Swedelson Gottlieb. Mr. Swedelson has litigated hundreds of lawsuits ranging from architectural violations, pet issues, hard surface flooring disputes, discrimination and fair housing complaints, assessment collection, contractor and vendor contract disputes, and construction defects, all providing an example of the numerous areas of his litigation experience. He is also the firm's lead trial attorney and has had many successful jury and non-jury trial results for his community association clients. Mr. Swedelson is admitted to practice in California.

Kerry T. Bartell
is a principal with the law firm of Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit and has been practicing with the firm for over 20 years. She concentrates her practice representing condominium, homeowner (HOA), and townhome community associations. Ms. Bartell provides guidance on general matters relating to associations, as well as counseling the board of directors for an association on corporate actions, contracts, dispute resolution and other issues relating to the association as a corporation. She conducts seminars and webinars on community association law for homeowners, property managers and community associations in the Chicagoland area. Ms. Bartell is a frequent speaker at industry tradeshows and has written numerous articles featured in publications such as the Chicago Tribune, Common Interest, and The Chicagoland Cooperator. She earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and is a graduate of the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Ms. Bartell is admitted to practice in Illinois.
