Speaker bio
Robert L. Tucker
is a founding partner of HCP, currently serving in an of counsel capacity. He has represented both insurers and policyholders and holds an LL.M. degree in insurance law from the University of Connecticut. He is certified as a specialist in Insurance Coverage Law by the Ohio State Bar Association, and has taught Insurance Law as an adjunct professor at the University of Akron School of Law since 1999. A noted author and speaker, Mr. Tucker's published articles have been cited by federal and state courts across the nation, and in more than 60 scholarly articles that reference his work. In addition to his academic lectures, has often spoken at continuing legal education seminars for attorneys, paralegals, and insurance claim professionals. Mr. Tucker has also served as a consulting and as a testifying expert witness in the area of claims-handling practices. He has received the UA Law Alumni Publications Award twice (2012 and 1999) and was invited by the Ohio Supreme Court to mentor in the Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program through 2011. Mr. Tucker was recognized as the 2005-2006 Committee Chair of the Year by the Akron Bar Association and is a fellow of the Akron Bar Association Foundation. In 2008, he received the Friend of Legal Education Award from the Ohio State Bar Association and, in 2010, the John R. Quine Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award. Mr. Tucker has maintained an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been named an Ohio Super Lawyer in the field of insurance coverage since 2008.

Sander Dawson
is an insurance coverage attorney with Bullard Brown, where he advises and represents insurers on coverage matters involving (primarily) commercial auto and general liability policies. He previously spent ten years representing policyholders in first-party bad faith litigation and has successfully handled numerous trials and appeals in state and federal court. Mr. Dawson earned his JD from California Western School of Law, where he served on Law Review and graduated cum laude.

Michael S. Rothrock
is a seasoned trial attorney with Wilson Elser, where he represents insurers and businesses in a wide range of litigation matters, including general liability, automobile and trucking liability, premises liability, animal liability, and insurance coverage disputes. With experience on both the plaintiff and defense sides, Mr. Rothrock brings a well-rounded perspective to every case. He has successfully handled numerous complex matters from the pre-suit investigation stage through appeals, including those involving wrongful death and catastrophic injury claims. His courtroom skill and strategic approach have earned him recognition as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star™ in Civil Litigation: Defense from 2018 through 2023 and an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Rothrock is a graduate of The Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, and DRI: The Voice of the Defense Bar. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Middle districts of North Carolina. Mr. Rothrock earned his J.D. degree from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 2008 and his B.A. degree, cum laude, from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2005.

Khalid Aziz
is an attorney at Miller Nashl. He represented contractors with both public and private disputes. Mr. Aziz experience includes successfully bringing claims against a public owner for failing to carry out its contractual obligations in good faith, bringing claims against bonding companies, and resolving disputes between contractors through both arbitration and mediation. He has also helped represent contractors in bid protests and disputes with Washington's Department of Labor and Industries. In the insurance world, Mr. Aziz has advanced our clients' interests with respect to liability policies, as well as property and builders risk policies. He helps identify and address instances where insurers engage in bad faith, such as conducting perpetual investigations, placing insurer interests ahead of their policyholder's, and limiting coverage when the policy provides otherwise. Mr. Aziz earned his B.A. degree from University of California at San Diego and his J.D. degree from University of Washington School of Law.

Stephen T. Kopko
, Esq. is an attorney of the Anzalone & Doyle in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where he focuses on plaintiff's personal injury, including injuries resulting from motor-vehicle accidents, slip/trip and fall events, medical malpractice, and nursing home negligence. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Pennsylvania Association of Justice, Northeastern Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, Lackawanna County Bar Association, and Wilkes-Barre Law and Library Association. Mr. Kopko is a 2008 magna cum laude graduate of King's College with a degree in political science, where he received the John F. Kennedy award for having the highest GPA in political science. He then received his J.D. degree from the Syracuse University College of Law. After graduating from law school, Mr. Kopko worked as a volunteer public defender in Lackawanna County and then at a local law firm. Prior to working at Anzalone & Doyle, he worked for a local law firm that specialized in representing insurance companies in personal injury matters. Mr. Kopko has represented insurance companies at each stage of litigation, including at trial and at the Pennsylvania Superior Court. In 2023, he decided to change his career path and use his skills and knowledge to benefit victims in personal injury matters. Mr. Kopko's prior experience provides him with unique insight into how the insurance industry operates, which he uses to help his clients. In 2019, he was named to the Top 20 under 40 by the Northeast Business Journal. This honor recognized Mr. Kopko as one of the top professionals in all of Northeastern Pennsylvania. He was one of only two attorneys honored that year. In addition to being a litigator, Mr. Kopko has also published articles analyzing civil litigation issues. These articles have appeared in the Pennsylvania Law Weekly and the Pennsylvania Lawyer magazine. He resides in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania with wife, Julia and two daughters, Imogene and Ruby. Mr. Kopko is active in his community serving as a co-chairperson of the Our Lady of the Snows Country Bazaar. He is also a lector for Our Lady of the Snows. Mr. Kopko also volunteers his time as a pro-bono solicitor for the Abington Area Joint Recreation Board.

Dawn C. Doherty
is a senior partner with Marks, O'Neill, O'Brien, Doherty & Kelly, P.C. She developed the firm's professional liability practice, which defends both institutional and individual defendants from the areas of behavioral health, nursing home and home healthcare, traditional medical negligence matters, physicians, hospitals, group practices, free standing clinics and outpatient facilities, as well as legal malpractice. Ms. Doherty is an active lecturer for the Delaware State Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and National Business Institute on issues involving insurance coverage disputes. She maintains a practice in both states in this area, as well as representing carriers in their capacity as excess insurer; assuming defense trial responsibilities at the point of tender through verdict in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, or monitoring and negotiating matters during trial. In the last several years, Ms. Doherty has developed a multijurisdictional trial practice representing insureds as National Trial Counsel. She is a member of Pennsylvania, New Jersey State and Delaware State bar associations; Court of Appeals, District of Columbia 1998; United States District Court of Delaware 1993; United States District Court of New Jersey 1987; United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania 1987; and Washington, D.C. District Court 1988. Ms. Doherty earned her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from LaSalle University and her J.D. degree from Temple University School of Law.
