Speaker bio
Velvet Johnson
is a highly experienced privacy attorney with a diverse background spanning both public and private sectors. Currently serving as senior corporate counsel at Cox Communications, she counsels clients on privacy-related issues, including in the areas of digital advertising and marketing, and technology contracting and procurement. Ms. Johnson also advises clients on cybersecurity matters, including data security compliance and due diligence, cybersecurity preparedness, and security incident response. Previously, she served as an Obama Administration appointee at the U.S. Department of Defense, where she developed national policies and programs in support of cybersecurity and critical infrastructure. In addition, Ms. Johnson held several senior leadership posts on Capitol Hill and served as senior counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. In that role, she was a principal in drafting and negotiations for comprehensive cybersecurity legislation, and conducted oversight of critical infrastructure protection programs, privacy, and federal IT programs. Ms. Johnson has been recognized for her leadership both professionally and civically. She was named a Manfred Worner Fellow in 2016, the flagship leadership development program of the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Ms. Johnson has also been profiled in major publications such as Bloomberg Law and Politico, and featured in Capitol Hill's Top 40 under 40. She earned her bachelor's degree, cum laude, in business administration from the University of Richmond, and her J.D. degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. Ms. Johnson holds a certification in cybersecurity strategy from Georgetown University and is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).

Kristina T. Larry
is a true solo attorney for her firm Sassy Litigations, LLC, where she practices trademark, small business, cybersecurity, and data privacy law. She holds a CIPP/US certification, which is the global gold standard for privacy professionals. Ms. Larry also has a professional cybersecurity certification from Google and has earned certificates in the areas of AI and blockchain technology. She also created the legal sub brands, the Prenup Princess and The Seattle Wedding Lawyer. In addition to running her firm, Ms. Larry is a former lecturer at the University of Washington School of Law. She has served on many boards, including the Washington State Bar Foundation, Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) Solo and Small Practice Section Executive Committee, and currently on the Board of Governors for the WSBA. In 2018, Ms. Larry was named as one the 40 Under 40 by South Sound Business magazine.She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Wyoming and earned her J.D. degree at the HBCU Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University.

is an attorney with de Beaubien, Simmons, Knight, Mantzaris & Neal, LLP. His practice is centered around representing defendants in personal injury cases. Mr. Clark earned his B.S. degree from University of Central Florida and his J.D. degree from Stetson University College of Law. He is a member of The Florida Bar and Orange County Bar Association. Mr. Clark is admitted to practice in all Florida State courts.
