Speaker bio
Mary Ewing
is a founding member of Mary Ewing Law Office PC. Having previously practiced for 20 years with Ewing & Ewing PC, she is a tireless advocate in her representation of those who have been injured as a result of an automobile collision, dangerous condition, defective product, or professional negligence. Ms. Ewing also represents those involved in divorce litigation, workers' compensation claims, Social Security claims, and employment matters. She has been a frequent presenter at numerous continuing legal education seminars, held a board position with the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association for 30 years, and was certified as a civil trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Ms. Ewing served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Denver College of Law for many years, as well as on the teaching faculty for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Colorado and her J.D. degree from the University of Denver.

Joseph Mazzerella
is a partner with McCarter & English, LLP in Hartford, Connecticut. He brings his diverse in-house experience to clients in corporate, finance, licensing, and government relations matters. Mr. Mazzarella has more than 30 years of senior legal and business technology leadership experience. He has served in a variety of operational and legal leadership roles, including as general counsel to several telecommunications, networking, and software companies, and president and chief operating officer of a leading technology company in the public safety, defense, and communications space. A cutting-edge tech industry leader, Mr. Mazzarella holds more than 30 U.S. patents in numerous emerging areas, including no-code/low-code platforms, clean energy networks, interoperable multimedia communications, biosensor networks, IoT, AI, blockchain, drones, and wearable computing. He regularly speaks on emerging AI regulatory issues. Mr. Mazzarella also has been directly involved in structuring complex debt and equity financing, IP licensing, international joint ventures, M&A, supplier, and channel distribution and manufacturing agreements. He is experienced in government relations in both policy and appropriations at the federal and state level, as well as federal contracting, export controls, FCPA, and other regulatory compliance matters. In addition, Mr. Mazzarella has managed commercial litigation. He earned his B.S. degree, with honors, from Hobart and William Smith College and J.D. degree, cum laude, from Tulane University School of Law.

Mark West
is a sole practitioner in San Gabriel, where he practices in plaintiff personal injury and wrongful death, products liability law, medical malpractice, and business civil litigation. He has published several articles and frequently lectures. Mr. West is admitted to practice in the Northern, Central and Southern U.S. District courts in California; Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; and Supreme Court of the United States. He has also been admitted pro hac vice in the state and U.S. District Court for Nevada, and the U.S. District Court for Minnesota. Mr. West is a member of the American and Los Angeles County bar associations, State Bar of California, Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, Consumer Attorneys of California (past legislative district coordinator), and American Trial Lawyers Association. He earned his B.S. degree from New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University) and his J.D. degree from Southwestern University School of Law.

Louise Lark Hill
is a Distinguished Emerita Professor of Law with Delaware Law School of Widener University. She joined the faculty at Delaware Law School as a visiting associate professor from 1987 - 1988, served as associate professor from 1988 - 1992, and served as professor of law beginning in 1992. Professor Hill was Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs from 1995 - 1997. Professor Hill teaches and writes in the areas of commercial law, professional responsibility, and wills and trusts. Following graduation from law school, she clerked for the Honorable Don J. Young, United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, from 1978 - 1980. Professor Hill joined the United States Department of Justice as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Ohio, from 1980 - 1983, during which time she was also an adjunct professor of law at the University of Toledo College of Law. She joined the faculty at the University of Toledo College of Law as a visiting assistant professor from 1983 - 1984, and served there as assistant professor of law from 1984 - 1986, and as associate professor from 1986 - 1987. Professor Hill is admitted to practice in the states of Massachusetts, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. She has been active in a number of professional and civic organizations, including the American Bar Association (Commission on Advertising, past chair; Advisory Council of the Commission on Responsibility in Client Development, past member), and the Association of American Law Schools Professional Responsibility Section (Executive Committee, chair of the Nominating Committee). She is currently on the Editorial Board of the BNA/ABA Lawyers' Manual in Professional Conduct. Professor Hill earned her B.A. degree from Pennsylvania State University; her M.Ed. degree from Boston University; and her J.D. degree from Suffolk University Law School, where she served on the Suffolk University Law Review. She is the author of numerous works on ethical and other legal issues in various legal publications.
