Speaker bio
Scott M. Bennett
is an attorney at Finch, Thornton & Baird, LLP. He works with business owners and shareholders, executive management, and business partners to provide legal expertise in construction law, and business and commercial litigation. Mr. Bennett's construction law practice focuses on bringing effective and efficient resolution to matters including claims, disputes and collections. Clients include general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and general businesses. He earned his B.A. degree from Nottingham Trent University and his J.D. degree from Nottingham Law School.

John C. Goodman
brings nearly three decades of experience to Klinedinst PC as senior counsel. He has extensive experience counseling and negotiating for clients with a focus on construction law and construction-related insurance defense. Mr. Goodman has worked on major public work cases involving large entities, including state departments of transportation, municipalities, and other public works departments. Prior to Klinedinst, he worked as principal attorney at his own law practice, representing numerous subcontractors and general contractors in disputes involving both public and private construction projects. Mr. Goodman has been appointed as special litigation counsel by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Central District of California to collect on claims of a bankrupt general contractor against various public entities. He also has significant experience in private construction cases. Mr. Goodman earned his B.A. degree in economics from Michigan State University; and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, graduating second in his class.

Shain Wasser
is a partner at Kennedys Law LLP. She concentrates her practice on civil litigation in federal and state court. She has litigated coverage and bad faith, commercial disputes, product liability, premise liability, real estate agent liability, D&O defense matters including broker liability, marine, employment including wrongful termination and discrimination claims, and construction and habitability claims. Mr. Wasser also handles personal injury matters involving catastrophic injuries, emotional injuries, brain damage and wrongful death. She has significant and extensive experience advising insurance carrier clients on complex coverage issues and developing strategies for resolution. She also assists clients with monitoring complex multi-district litigation. She earned her B.A degree from University of California and her J.D degree from Chapman School of Law.

Jay Hamad
is a partner at Kennedys Law LLP. His practice focuses on the construction and shipping industries. He primarily litigates all manners of construction defect, construction injury, property damage, New York Labor Law, admiralty, maritime, cargo and coverage matters. Mr. Hamad represents construction managers, general contractors, sub-contractors and property owners in suits brought against them in construction defect claims, construction accidents, issues of code violations, and building and design-related deficiencies. Mr. Hamad also defends clients in maritime law claims involving the Jones Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers Act, cargo defense, and coverage. He has served as lead counsel in jury trials and binding arbitrations which have yielded defense verdicts and positive outcomes for his clients. He has represented clients ranging from multinational corporations to small family owned businesses in state and federal district courts in a wide variety of marine, commercial, casualty and complex medical malpractice litigation. He has served as lead trial counsel in cases in 3 states and 2 federal districts. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from New York University and his J.D. degree from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey School of Law.

maintains a multi-disciplinary construction practice providing representation to owners, developers, and major corporations in all aspects and phases of construction and project development in the real estate industry. His practice provides an integrated "one-stop-shop" for a broad cross-section of public and private sector clients in due diligence, transactions, tenant buildouts, project oversight and management, regulatory compliance, disputes, litigation, and restructuring/bankruptcy matters.
