Speaker bio
Gary A. Laurie
is the founder of a full-service entertainment and intellectual property law firm. For over 15 years, the firm has been protecting and enforcing its client's intellectual property rights as well as negotiating content deals on both the production and talent side of the table. With a focus on entertainment, intellectual property, and corporate matters, the firm is in a position to offer a full range of services to artists, businesses and individuals. The firm's intellectual property practice provides a complete range of transactional services for domestic and international companies. In addition to registering trademarks and copyrights throughout the United States and abroad, the firm assists clients in exploiting their intellectual property rights as well as counsels clients concerning the validity and valuation of intellectual property. Mr. Laurie is a past chair of the Entertainment Arts and Sports Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He also teaches courses in contract, business and entertainment law at Montclair State University, as well as Music Business Law at New Jersey City University. Mr. Laurie is a frequent lecturer on entertainment and intellectual property topics and provides volunteer services for the Pro Bono Partnership. He earned his bachelor's degree from Montclair State University and his J.D. degree from Seton Hall University.

Kenneth P. Kula
is a trial attorney with Buether Joe & Counselors LLC, where he represents individuals and companies in complex litigation involving intellectual property, such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. Mr. Kula also practices in the areas of technology law and general litigation. He has represented clients, as plaintiff and defendant, and has tried both bench and jury trials in state or federal court in various courts throughout the United States. Mr. Kula has served as an adjunct professor at Washburn University School of Law, where he taught courses on patent law and intellectual property. He has been active in the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and teaching Building Trial Skills program at Southern Methodist University. Mr. Kula also served as an ethics investigator for his local bar association. He has been invited to speak by various organizations on a variety of topics, including intellectual property litigation, copyright law and the construction industry, ethics, and electronic discovery. Mr. Kula is admitted to practice law in Texas, Missouri, Kansas, New York, and Nebraska. He has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and before various federal district courts. Mr. Kula is, or has been, a member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) and various state, city and other local bar associations. He earned his B.S. degree from St. John Fisher College and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Washburn University School of Law.

Brandon M. Selinsky
counsels breweries and other business clients on trademark prosecution and defense in front of the USPTO and TTAB. Most recently, he fended off a major university's attack on an independent artist's trademark. Mr. Selinsky also represents service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSB) in government procurement matters, including bid protests, contract disputes, and appellate advocacy. In addition to trademarks, he specializes in beer and spirits law more broadly, including TTB compliance, licensing/permitting, and other regulatory issues. Prior to joining Whitcomb, Selinsky PC, Mr. Selinsky litigated subrogation claims for major insurance companies, including American Family, State Farm and USAA. He also worked for a national social security disability company and has represented disabled clients in administrative hearings and in the federal district and circuit courts for ten years. Mr. Selinsky earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Albion College and his J.D. degree from University of Nebraska College of Law.

Kirk A. Damman
is a member in the St. Louis office of Lewis Rice LLC, where he practices in all areas of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on helping startup and growing companies begin to manage, license and gain value from their intellectual property (patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets), as well as obtain protection for their most important ideas and products. Mr. Damman is the co-author of two books on patent law. He also works with startups in other areas including issues related to crowdfunding campaigns and additive manufacturing (3D printing). Mr. Damman is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, where he was formerly the chairman of the Committee for Emerging Technologies. He is also involved with the Intellectual Property Committee of the IEEE. Mr. Damman earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Carleton College and his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School.
