Speaker bio
Gretchen J. Burgess
is an attorney shareholder at Murphy Desmond, S.C., where she is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of estate planning, including the preparation of revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney for healthcare and finance, special and supplemental needs trusts, and marital property agreements. Ms. Burgess also handles the establishment and termination of adult guardianships, as well as the preparation of Wispact trusts and Medicaid planning. She assists clients in all aspects of the estate administration process, including formal and informal estate administration, special administration, and trust administration. Ms. Burgess earned her B.A. degree from Macalester College in Japan studies and her J.D. degree from Hamline University School of Law with an international law concentration. She is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Dane County Bar Association, and Madison Estate Council, and is on the Board of Directors for Blackhawk Technical College Foundation. Ms. Burgess is also an admissions representative at Macalester College. She is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and licensure in Illinois is pending.

Tracy J. Murn
is a partner at Axley and a member of the firm's business practice group. She focuses her practice primarily on business, construction, and estate and succession planning, as well as catering to the unique legal needs of family-owned businesses. Ms. Murn's other areas of practice, land use, riparian rights, and general business practice, allow her to serve clients with a full 360-degree approach to asset protection, business strategy and conveyance of real estate. She represents business owners of all kinds, both in their everyday dealings as well as when they are buying or selling commercial real estate, businesses, or developing. Her experience working with local municipalities gives her a leg-up on representing business owners or those looking to purchase and develop real estate. Ms. Murn also represents a number of commercial construction companies with a nationwide presence. Ms. Murn's estate planning and succession planning are informed by her experience in probate and trust administration as well as her extensive experience representing various types of construction companies and general businesses. She has a unique ability to explain complex estate planning concepts to clients by using imagery and guiding them through the process start-to-finish to ensure the client understands the intricacies of their estate plan and subsequent administration, if any. In addition, she is also skilled in drafting complex estate plans and resolving intricate issues with previously drafted trusts. Outside of her career, Ms. Murn mentors young attorneys and those who are interested in joining the legal practice in the future. She also serves on the Zoological Society of Milwaukee Associate Board of Directors. Ms. Murn is an avid fitness and outdoor enthusiast and enjoys spending time with her children and husband and visiting her husband's family in England.

James M. Weber
is a sole practitioner and concentrates his practice in the areas of elder law, estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate, and real estate matters. Mr. Weber earned his law degree from Valparaiso University. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Mr. Weber is also a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin (Elder Law Section and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section).

Leah A. Foertsch
is office managing partner with Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O'Gara LLC, and a member of the estate and trust planning, administration and litigation team. Her practice focuses on advising individuals and families in all areas of trust and estate planning, and probate administration. In addition, Ms. Foertsch has extensive experience in representing individuals and businesses in asset protection, wealth management, and tax strategies, and has managed multi-million dollar real estate transactions, including structuring deals and providing title insurance for both commercial and residential properties. She also works with businesses on their succession planning strategies and has advised clients regarding the best structure to meet their needs and goals. Previously, Ms. Foertsch managed the estate planning and real estate practice for the Palm Beach Gardens office of a multi-state law firm, where she also handled the representation of fiduciaries in all aspects of probate administration. She earned her J.D. degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, her Master of Laws in taxation from the University of Miami School of Law and her undergraduate degree in sociology from Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. Ms. Foertsch is licensed to practice in Florida, and is a member of The Florida Bar, Tax and Real Property, Probate and Trust sections.

is an attorney with Sam Thomas III Esquire & Associates. He has practiced for 28 years in the areas of probate, foreclosure prevention, tax resolution, and debt relief. Currently, Mr. Thomas's practice focuses on estate planning. He earned his B.A. degree from Cleveland State University, his M.S. degree from Indiana University and his J.D. degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law.
