Speaker bio
John P. Newton
is a partner with Mayer & Newton, Attorneys at Law, where his main areas of practice include business bankruptcy and consumer bankruptcy law. He specializes in small business cases. Mr. Newton has filed thousands of consumer bankruptcy cases and has been a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Panel Trustee for the Eastern District of Tennessee since 1985. He is a member of the NACBA and the American Bar Association. Mr. Newton is admitted to the federal court and the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is certified as a consumer bankruptcy specialist by the American Bankruptcy Institute. Mr. Newton has lectured to various professional groups on collections and bankruptcy issues. He earned his B.S., M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
