Speaker bio
Steven L. Lovett
is an associate professor of business law and ethics at School of Business, Emporia State University (AACSB accredited). He teaches business law and international business law courses, along with business ethics, social responsibility and sustainability at the undergraduate and graduate level. Prior to his teaching career, Mr. Lovett served as legal counsel for a multi-billion dollar credit union, regional banking clients, and private companies on a wide variety of corporate governance issues, compliance and regulatory issues, best practices, SEC filings review, outside counsel management, and business-to-business transactional matters. Mr. Lovett is the author of Corporate Counsel Guides: Practice Basics (1st ed., ABA Publishing, 2013), a textbook on applied ethics, and several trade and journal articles, book chapters and scholarly papers. He is a member or former member of the State Bar of Texas, State Bar of New Mexico, American (Corporate Governance, Commercial & Business Litigation and Financial Institution Litigation committees) and Federal bar associations. Mr. Lovett earned his B.A. degree from Texas A&M University and his J.D. degree from St. Mary's University School of Law.

Stephen G. Mirakian
is vice president in the law firm of Wyrsch Hobbs & Mirakian, P.C. He has been primarily responsible for handling a wide variety of complex personal injury and business related civil cases and white collar criminal cases. Mr. Mirakian has had more than 100 jury trials and actively manages a significant case load of personal injury, employment, civil rights, business disputes, probate, and family law. He also conducts an active mediation practice for civil and family law cases. Mr. Mirakian has lectured at numerous seminars and taught for ten years as an adjunct professor of business law at Johnson County Community College. He earned his B.S. degree from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, New York; and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Washburn University School of Law, Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Mirakian is licensed in the states of Kansas and Missouri; and has been admitted to practice and has tried cases in Kansas, Missouri, Texas, and Colorado. He has argued cases in the Kansas and Missouri Courts of Appeal; Kansas and Missouri Supreme courts; Eighth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeal; and the military's highest court, the Court of Military Appeals.

James B. Haddow
is a partner with the Portland law firm of Petruccelli, Martin & Haddow, LLP, where he advises and represents clients on, among other things, professional licensing and professional discipline matters. He served as treasurer on the Board of Governors of the Maine State Bar Association from 2018-2022, and he now serves as vice president of the MSBA. He is also a member of the Cumberland County and American bar associations; and the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Haddow earned his B.A. degree in philosophy from Colby College and his J.D. degree from the University of Maine.
