Speaker bio
Dr. Lauren Rasmussen
is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in diagnosis and treatment planning of neurological diseases and disorders and health-related conditions. Dr. Rasmussen has been recognized by the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as being a competent forensic provider. As such, she has served as an expert witness in many cases involving traumatic brain injury, competency, posttraumatic stress disorder, and other psychological conditions as part of a claim involved in litigation. Dr. Rasmussen also specializes in workers' compensation claims and often provides second medical opinions on injuries/damages in question. She has a special interest in fitness for duty evaluations for individuals looking to return to work or whose capacity to complete their workplace duties are being questioned. From a clinical perspective, Dr. Rasmussen frequently evaluates patients who are concerned about their memory or who have been diagnosed with progressive neurocognitive conditions. She also assesses for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities in adults (and for accommodations needed on standardized testing or in the classroom), psychiatric conditions, and presurgical clearance. Dr. Rasmussen often works with bariatric surgery candidates and patients who need presurgical clearance for major spinal surgeries and implantable devices such as spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal pain pumps. Outside of the office environment, Dr. Rasmussen enjoys rigorous fitness endeavors, spending time with her husband and two daughters, and traveling. She is also involved in consultation work with several neurorehabilitation hospitals throughout the state of Louisiana and occasionally has the privilege to serve as an adjunct faculty member at LSU.

Dr. Merrick J. Wetzler
is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He developed an early interest in sports medicine at Yale University, where during his undergraduate career he was an All-Ivy League wrestler and won a gold medal at the Maccabiah Games. Upon earning his medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine, Dr. Wetzler completed his orthopedic residency at Boston University. Following fellowships in sports medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Medical Center, Rothman Institute, and Lankenau Hospital and Medical Research Center. A former co-director of Virtua's Sports Medicine Program, Dr. Wetzler is active in professional, school, and community sports at every level. He has assisted in team medical coverage for the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers, Phillies and Wings; served as medical chairman/director for Team USA in the 2009 International Maccabiah Games, medical director for Team USA in the 2007 European Maccabiah Games, and associate medical director for Team USA in the 2005 International Maccabiah Games; is a member of the U.S. Rugby Union Medical and Safety Committee; and has also served as the team orthopedic surgeon for sports teams at Rowan University, Rutgers-Camden University, Eastern Camden County Regional High School, Pemberton Township High School, Cherry Hill West High School, Jersey Wahoos Swim Team, and South Jersey Rugby Football Club. Specializing in sports medicine, shoulder and knee reconstruction, orthopedic trauma, and general orthopedics, Dr. Wetzler was voted "Top Doc in Sports Medicine" by his peers in the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009 surveys by SJ Magazine.

Dr. David Cooper
owns and operates The Knee Center in Plains, Pennsylvania, centrally located in the Pocono Mountain area, 90 miles west of New York City and 90 north of Philadelphia. He is the author of "Cooper's Sign," first published on Wikipedia in 2008, indicating that a history of knee pain turning over in bed is a 90% indicator of meniscal pathology as opposed to arthritis. He is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and the Jefferson Orthopedic residency. Dr. Cooper entered private practice as a general orthopedic surgeon in Lansdale, Pennsylvania after serving our country for eight years as a U.S. Navy Reserve medical officer. For four years, Dr. Cooper performed all types of orthopedic surgery, including neck and low back laminectomies and fusions, along with extensive open and closed fracture care. In 1980, he was recruited by Geisinger to open the orthopedic department at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, where he was among the first orthopedic surgeons in the valley to introduce knee replacements and arthroscopic surgery. In 1981, Dr. Cooper opened The Knee Center in Wilkes-Barre to further specialize in the care and treatment of knee and lower extremity disorders. He has personally performed more than 6,000 arthroscopic surgeries, ligament repairs, and knee replacements. Dr. Cooper is board-certified for life by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, the highest honor that any medical specialist practicing in the U.S. can obtain. As a sought-after speaker for many national organizations, he has addressed the American Bar Association national conferences and the Risk Insurance Management Society national meetings in New Orleans and Atlanta. He has also been interviewed by Bob Costas on nationwide radio and published in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Dr. Cooper is an adjunct professor at Binghamton University and King's University. He is also a guest lecturer at Binghamton University, King's University, and the University of Scranton.
