Speaker bio
Roy Viola Jr.
is a partner at Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP. As a first-chair trial lawyer for more than 25 years, he has tried 35 jury trials across the country. Mr. Viola handles all aspects of litigation in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including toxic tort, asbestos, talcum powder, contaminated food, environmental, and construction defect cases. He has also been involved in the opioid litigation, representing wholesale pharmaceutical distributors in both state and federal courts. Mr. Viola also litigates commercial, D&O, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) cases. He actively participates in all areas of discovery, including depositions, motions, and strategy development. Mr. Viola frequently is local counsel in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for various firm clients, regularly appearing in court for motions, hearings, and trials. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from East Stroudsburg University and his J.D. degree from Rutgers University School of Law.

Thomas F. Ahearne
is a principal at the Seattle law firm of Foster Garvey PC. He also is a founding member of the insurance coverage practice group, which represents the policyholder/claimant side in coverage disputes and resulting litigation against insurance companies in federal and state courts. A significant portion of Mr. Ahearne's insurance coverage practice revolves around duty to defend, indemnification, investigation, and good faith issues relating to construction disputes, condominium litigation, directors' and officers' claims, and municipal liability suits, as well as property damage losses and related business interruption/lost profits claims. He has lectured extensively on insurance coverage issues for various trade groups, associations, and other legal and insurance industry professionals. Mr. Ahearne is a member of the King County (Litigation Section), Washington State (Litigation Section), Federal (Litigation Section) and American (Tort and Insurance Section and Insurance Litigation Committee) bar associations, as well as the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers (WDTL). He earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame and his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Chicago.

Marc A. Sanchez
is a partner with Frantz Ward LLP. He focuses his practice on insurance coverage disputes, commercial litigation and all aspects of construction law. Mr. Sanchez has tried cases and argued appeals throughout the State of Ohio in both state and federal courts. In addition, he has participated in many arbitrations both as an advocate and arbitrator. He is a frequent lecturer and has written numerous publications on insurance and construction issues. Mr. Sanchez earned his A.B. degree from Duke University and his J.D. degree from Stanford University.

Howard L. Huntington
is a partner at Franco Moroney Buenik LLC. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation. He also has extensive experience in the areas of construction, product liability, professional liability, transportation litigation, toxic torts and civil rights litigation. Mr. Huntington has successfully represented large and mid-market corporations, family-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and municipalities in a wide variety of civil litigation in both Illinois and Indiana. In regard to commercial litigation matters, he has litigated breach of contract matters and disputes under the Uniform Commercial Code representing corporate buyers and sellers. Mr. Huntington represents businesses in litigation involving claims of failure to pay for goods and services, failure to deliver conforming goods and services, and unfair business practices. He has represented contractors and distributors in construction defect litigation. He also has defended retailers and wholesalers in federal actions alleging false advertising, product disparagement, and other business torts. Mr. Huntington has defended numerous construction contractors, subcontractors, motor freight companies, hotels, casinos, and retailers in catastrophic injury and wrongful death suits. He appeared before the Indiana Supreme Court for a products matter on behalf of a manufacturer of helicopters. In the employment area, Mr. Huntington has defended municipalities and public entities in Title VII discrimination cases, Section 1983 public employee cases, and employment contract disputes. He argued before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and prevailed in an equal protection matter. Mr. Huntington earned his B.A. degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his J.D. degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology.

Carolina Saavedra
is an attorney at Shutts & Bowen LLP where she is a member of the Construction Litigation Practice Group. She focuses her practice on complex commercial and construction litigation matters in both state and federal courts, as well as in alternative dispute resolution settings. Ms. Saavedra represents general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, suppliers and other parties in matters involving construction and design defects, contract disputes, liens, delays and unforeseen conditions on public and private projects. Her experience includes counseling a variety of complex commercial claims, surety litigation, shareholder disputes, employer discrimination claims as well as handling licensing disputes. Ms. Saavedra's experience is shaped by her years practicing in boutique complex commercial litigation firms as well as national firms. She earned her B.A. degree from University of Central Florida and her J.D. degree from Stetson University College of Law.
