Ms. Johnston also advocates for clients facing claims before state and federal courts, Maine Human Rights Commission, and Maine Workers' Compensation Board. She is a regular contributor to Verrill's Taking Care of HR Business blog. Ms. Johnston earned her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Maine and her J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Maine School of Law. has practiced law in Maine for over 40 years. He represents PORAC (U.S. Border Patrol), Fraternal Order of Police, Androscoggin County Employee Association, Professional Fire Fighters of Maine and National Correctional Employees Union. Mr. Chapman has co-authored legislation in the area of mental health and firearms with the Governor's Office and the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine. He teaches use of deadly and nondeadly force at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy to cadets, law enforcement firearms instructors and judicial marshals. Mr. Chapman developed and periodically updates the protocol for representation of law enforcement officers involved in critical incidents. He is the counselor at arms for the Gun Owners of Maine, and is an avid shooter, archer and reloader. Mr. Chapman is admitted to practice in the Maine courts, U.S. District Court for the District of Maine, First Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. Supreme Court, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

is a partner in McCoy Leavitt Laskey LLC's Maine office, focusing on fire and explosion cases, as well as other litigation and claims resolution. He joined the firm in 2023 after spending almost nine years as vice president and general counsel for a regional energy company headquartered in New England. In that role, Mr. Black was responsible for legal, risk, insurance, safety and compliance of retail, wholesale and terminal operations throughout the company's five state footprint. He oversaw defense of claims involving propane incidents and managed outside counsel. Mr. Black also has extensive trial and litigation experience prior to going in-house. He was an assistant attorney general prosecuting white collar cases across the state of Maine for five years. Prior to that, Mr. Black was a partner at a large commercial law firm in Portland specializing in commercial litigation. He has first or second chaired dozens of criminal and civil jury trials in state and federal courts throughout the country. Additionally, Mr. Black is a Colonel in the Army Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG), serving as a part-time reservist. He is the state of Maine's senior military attorney. Mr. Black's military experience as taken him to Montenegro, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, where he has handled legal matters involving military and international law, in addition to overseeing legal work for operations throughout the United States. He graduated from the University of Georgia school of Law, where he served on the Law Review for two years, publishing his own article and editing the articles of law professors selected for publication. After law school, Mr. Black clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Harold L. Murphy in the Northern District of Georgia.
