Jason F. Hicks
is a deputy county attorney with Guilford County, North Carolina. He is licensed in both Tennessee and North Carolina. Mr. Hicks is admitted to practice in the federal district courts of the Middle District of North Carolina and Tennessee, and the federal appellate courts of the fourth and sixth circuits. Over the course of his career, he has practiced family/divorce law, probate, and civil litigation, as well as elder law, juvenile law, and local government law. Mr. Hicks is a member of the Greensboro, District 24 (NC), Putnam County (TN), Tennessee, North Carolina, and American bar associations. He serves as a member of the board of directors, chair of the community involvement committee, and the fellows committee chairman for the Greensboro Bar Association. Mr. Hicks is currently the immediate past president of the North Carolina DSS Attorney's Association. He is past president of the Putnam County Bar Association and the Upper Cumberland Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Hicks is also the past vice president of the Tennessee Bar Association-Young Lawyers Division. With the North Carolina State Bar Association, he serves on the BarCARES Board of Directors, Council for the Local Government and Public Sector Section, and Council for the Juvenile Justice and Children's Rights Council. Mr. Hicks is a frequent speaker at legal education seminars having presented over eighty continuing legal education presentations. He is a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity and chief legal advisor for the fraternity. Mr. Hicks is a master member and vice president of the Guilford Chapter, American Inn of Courts and chair for the Program Review Committee, American Inn of Courts. He earned his B.A. degree from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and his J.D. degree from Faulkner University, Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. Outside of the profession, Mr. Hicks is involved in the Masonic fraternity, United Methodist Church, and Scouting America (Boy Scouts). He is married to Dr. Megan Henley Hicks and they have two children, John Howard Hicks, II ("Jack") and Elizabeth Jane Hicks ("Libby").

Amy McIntyre
is an associate with Rubin and Rudman LLP in Boston. She is a member of the firm's trust and estate department and elder law practice group. Ms. McIntyre concentrates on asset restructuring and Medicaid eligibility. She earned her J.D. degree from Western New England Law School in May of 2024. Ms. McIntyre served as a junior staff member on the Western New England Law Review for Volume 45, and served as the online content editor for Volume 46. She is a member of the Massachusetts chapter of National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Ms. McIntyre earned her bachelor's degree in legal studies from Becker College and her master's degree in managerial leadership from Worcester State University.

Adam R. Huffman
is an attorney at Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP. He focuses his legal practice on estate planning, elder law, Medicaid planning, guardianship, and probate. Mr. Huffmanb works closely with individuals and families to design and implement strategies that preserve assets, ensure long-term care, and support smooth transitions during life's most challenging stages. Clients value his practical, solutions-oriented approach and his ability to guide them through complex legal decisions with clarity and confidence. Prior to joining CPM, Mr. Huffman held a leadership role at a central Ohio law firm, where he oversaw legal teams specializing in estate administration, Medicaid, VA benefits, and trust funding. His work included managing attorneys and staff, developing internal training programs, and leading initiatives to support the firm's growth. In client-facing roles, Mr. Huffman structured and implemented comprehensive estate plans tailored to asset protection, government benefits, and wealth preservation goals, all handled with a focus on accessibility and compassionate service. He earned his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Capital University Law School; and his B.A. degree in criminology, magna cum laude, from Capital University, where he also minored in political science, sociology, and theatre studies.

is of counsel in the Buffalo law firm of Pfalzgraf Beinhauer Grear Harris Schuller LLP. His practice focuses entirely in the fields of estates and trusts, estate administration, and elder law. Mr. Beinhauer is a former member of the New York State Bar Association's Elder Law Committee. He is a former member of the Bar Association of Erie County's Elder Law Committee, Surrogate Court Practice and Procedure Committee, Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee, and the Speakers Bureau. Mr. Beinhauer is a former member of the New York State Lawyers Assistance Trust and the New York State Bar Association's Lawyers Assistance Committee. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and the Columbus School of Law Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

She currently serves as the director of legal education at Lawyers With Purpose®, a national membership organization for estate planning attorneys. Ms. Shearin is also the product owner of STEPS™, LWP's proprietary estate planning and Medicaid qualification software. From 2015 to 2020, she honed her expertise as a drafter and practicing estate planning attorney, cultivating a deep appreciation for the art and technical precision involved in drafting estate plans. Ms. Shearin earned her B.A. degree from Wilkes University and her J.D. degree from Syracuse University College of Law. She is admitted to practice law in New York.
