Edward J. Aucoin, Jr.
is principal with Grant & Eisenhofer P.A., where he advocates for families and children in birth injury and birth trauma litigation. He has successfully litigated hundreds of cases and has served as first and second chair trial attorney in states including Illinois, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, Mississippi, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Arkansas, Nevada, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, among others. Adept in every aspect of medical negligence cases, from pleadings and discovery to experts and trial, Mr. Aucoin is particularly effective during depositions — where, in his view, these types of cases are won or lost. With his sound footing in both law and medicine, he is regularly able to extract what really happened, in between the lines of what has (or, more likely, has not) been expressly written in a chart or ‘op notes.’ In addition to his 25+ years of experience, Mr. Aucoin also brings a valuable strategic perspective gleaned from previous defense-side roles. Prior to joining G&E, he worked at several medical negligence defense firms in the Chicago area, focusing on medical malpractice and professional liability as well as commercial litigation. Mr. Aucoin also was a senior trial attorney at a national insurance company. He earned his B.A. degree from Loyola University of New Orleans and his J.D. degree from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law. He is admitted in Illinois, Louisiana and North Carolina.
