Sandy Roussas

has spent her entire career since graduating law school over 15 years ago defending hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice lawsuits. She has successfully second-chaired several medical malpractice trials and obtained a defense verdict as lead trial counsel in a premises liability claim against a hospital. She has experience in defending claims involving allegations of negligent emergency department care, obstetrical care, orthopedic and general surgical care. She practices in the areas of medical malpractice and hospital liability, product liability and general liability. Attorney Roussas' diverse practice also includes successfully defending institutional clients and physicians in investigations brought by the Department of Public Health. She is involved in all facets of pre-trial litigation. Through factual development of the case, witness depositions and case research, she builds the defense, hypothesizes plaintiff's position and collaborates with clients to develop a plan for a quick and successful resolution of matters. Clients also benefit from Attorney Roussas' ability to identify institutional level issues that arise during a case; issues that could be addressed and rectified through policy changes. Implementing recommended changes in an institution's policies and procedures may prevent the same event from occurring again. Clients are also kept abreast of changes in the law and how these changes would affect their exposure in figure litigation
