Speaker bio
Anthony C. Marino
is a member with Gordon, Arata, Montgomery, Barnett, McCollam, Duplantis & Egan, LLC, in New Orleans. His practice focuses on energy transactions and regulatory matters. Mr. Marino's work includes drafting and negotiating oil and gas agreements, acquisitions and divestures of mineral properties, and energy financings. Additionally, he advises clients on regulatory issues on mineral leases both onshore in Louisiana and offshore in state and federal waters on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). Tony represents clients before regulatory agencies, including the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), and Interior Board of Land Appeals. Such matters range from plugging and abandonment liability issues and oil spill financial responsibility to royalty valuation and relief and non-compliance. He began his career as a paralegal at Gordon Arata, then joined as an associate after law school. After years growing his energy practice at firms across New Orleans, Mr. Marino returned to Gordon Arata in 2024. He has been listed as a The Best Lawyer in America® since 2021 and was named a New Orleans Lawyer of the Year for energy law in 2023. Mr. Marino was ranked by Chambers USA for energy & natural resources: oil & gas, Louisiana from 2019-2021. He serves as an adjunct professor at Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans teaching mineral law.

Ryan A. Pittman
is a partner with BakerHostetler in Houston, Texas. He represents energy clients in a variety of oil and gas litigation matters, including oilfield accidents and other catastrophic events, royalty class actions, landowner issues, surface and subsurface damage and contamination, pipeline condemnation, easement and lease agreements, intellectual property and trade secrets and title disputes. As a former landman, Mr. Pittman shares valuable energy-industry experience and knowledge with clients. He has served as lead trial lawyer on numerous cases in both state and federal courts. Mr. Pittman also represents clients in construction and real estate matters and provides counsel on transactional matters, including asset purchases and sales, as well as mergers and acquisitions. He has been listed for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® for Oklahoma energy law, (2019-2024). Mr. Pittman earned his J.D. degree from University of Tulsa College of Law and is admitted to practice in Oklahoma, North Dakota and Texas.

Whitney R. Kerns
is a partner of Bowels Rice LLP, in Morgantown, West Virginia. She is a member of the firm's energy team, focusing on coal and oil and gas law. Ms. Kerns also practices in real estate development. Her work in the coal industry has included representing and advising coal operators and coal producers on various matters. Ms. Kerns served as counsel in the acquisition of coal properties for coal operators, and represented them in leasing rights, title disputes and curative judicial proceedings. She has also defended coal producers concerning leasing disputes. In the area of oil and gas law, Ms. Kerns has performed due diligence for multi-million dollar oil and gas operation acquisitions. She has represented oil and gas operators in acquisition of properties in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, and has counseled oil and production companies regarding leasing rights in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Since Fall of 2018, Ms. Kerns has served as an adjunct professor for the West Virginia University College of Law, where she teaches the course on coal, oil and gas law. She earned her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and senior editor of The West Virginia Law Review. Ms. Kerns is admitted to practice in West Virginia and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern districts of West Virginia.

Cleve J. Glenn
is a partner with BakerHostetler in Houston, Texas. He brings a holistic business perspective to his corporate and commercial practice, where he focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and outside general counsel services, including drafting and negotiating commercial leases, sale-leaseback transactions, master service agreements, supply agreements and financing documents. Mr. Glenn's corporate clients include middle market energy companies, real estate development companies, private equity portfolio companies, family offices and financial services companies. He also provides mergers and acquisitions and commercial law counsel to a publicly held rail transportation company providing services to the industrial, energy, transportation and construction industries. A certified public accountant in the state of Texas, Mr. Glenn has been named a Top Lawyer in corporate finance mergers and acquisitions by Houstonia Magazine, and a Most Effective Dealmaker by Texas Lawyer. He earned his J.D. degree from University of Miami School of Law and is admitted to practice in Texas.
