Program Description

Trusts and Estates Essentials to Inform Your Family Law Decision-Making

Family law attorneys need a strong understanding of several areas of estate planning to serve their clients effectively, as there is significant overlap between the two practice areas. Prenuptial agreements and divorce settlements often involve dividing assets and establishing inheritance rights. Child custody discussions benefit from the knowledge of guardianships and conservatorships. This cross-disciplinary guide will expand your legal knowledge to benefit your family law practices and clients. Build your skills -register today!

  • Analyze the potential tax implications of different divorce settlements.
  • Help clients plan for the care of minor children in the event of a parent's death.
  • Determine whether the trust assets are individual or marital property.
  • Anticipate potential problems, draft more effective legal documents, and resolve disputes more efficiently.
  • Let estate planning principles power up your family law decisions.
