Abigail K Walker is a member of Reed Smith's Emerging Technologies Group. She advises on data privacy and security obligations, including providing expertise on data privacy and IT issues related to mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Walker also advises on developing AI governance regulations and industry best practices. She designs efficient privacy compliance programs with a holistic view of the privacy landscape, finding solutions at the intersection of the EU's GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, the Colorado Privacy Act and its other U.S. counterparts, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and beyond. Ms. Walker has drafted privacy policies, terms of use, service agreements, data privacy impact assessments, and intracompany data transfer agreements. She also advises clients on handling data subject rights requests, implementing loyalty programs, and managing data workflows and consent mechanisms. She helps clients navigate the rapidly developing AI governance space, staying on top of new regulations and industry best practices. A true expert in her home state's landmark AI law, the Colorado AI Act, Ms. Walker also advises on other AI laws and regulations under consideration and the EU AI Act. She drafts internal AI governance policies and vendor intake forms, AI addendums for vendor agreements, AI impact assessments, and public-facing AI notices. In addition to addressing issues related to AdTech, cookie preference management, chatbots, and accessibility on client websites for compliance purposes, Ms. Walker assists clients in navigating demands and lawsuits concerning these technologies that are brought under the Video Privacy Protection Act, the California Invasion of Privacy Act, the California Shine The Light law, and similar state and federal laws. She works closely with client web developer teams to provide practical advice for website management.
