Diea Schum is a senior counsel at Buchalter in the Firm's Sacramento office and a member of the litigation practice group. She focuses her practice on commercial, construction, and real estate litigation including construction disputes, real estate contract disputes, property damage claims and litigation. Ms. Schum has tried cases involving delay and extra work claims, construction defect, and mold claims. Her clients include public and private owners, developers, general contractors, and design professionals. Ms. Schum was an attorney in Florida handling commercial litigation matters for Fortune 500 companies, partnership and/or corporation breakups, construction defect, contract disputes, intellectual property issues, and other business disputes. She began her legal career as a law extern to multiple judges at the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ms. Schum earned her J.D. degree, with honors, from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, where she served as senior editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review. She earned her B.A. degree in economics from Michigan State University.
