Speaker bio
Ron Shaver
is the City Attorney for the City of Olathe and has served in this role since 2015. His main areas of expertise include contract negotiations, economic development, dispute resolution and policy development. Mr. Shaver has presented on these areas at previous National Business Institute seminars, before the League of Kansas Municipalities, and with various professional groups. He earned his undergraduate and M.P.A. degrees from the University of Kansas, and his J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. Mr. Shaver is a member of the International Municipal Lawyers Association and is the Kansas state chair for IMLA. He is also a member of the Kansas and Johnson County bar associations and is currently serving as President the City Attorney's Association of Kansas.

Gregorio Silva
is an attorney at Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice LLC. He focuses his practice on civil litigation across a variety of practice areas, including transportation, propane, business disputes, personal injury, products liability, multidistrict (MDL) litigation, premises liability, and catastrophic injuries. Mr. Silva handles all phases of litigation - from immediate fact investigation after an incident/accident through jury verdict and appeal - across the United States. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Mr. Silva graduated from the William S. Boyd Law School cum laude, receiving several academic accolades, including competing as a finalist in the Animal Law Moot Court Competition. He is a member of several organizations including, but not limited to, DRI, Hispanic Bar Association of Greater Kansas City, Hispanic National Bar Association, and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Mr. Silva is admitted to practice law in Missouri, Kansas, Alaska, Arizona, California, Nevada, USDC, District of Arizona, and USDC, District of Nevada.

Kathleen R. Urbom
is a sole practitioner with Urbom Law Offices Chartered in Topeka, where she has a civil practice including estate planning and probate, guardian and conservatorships, trust formation, including special needs trusts, and special education law. Ms. Urbom has spoken previously on special education law, landlord tenant law, and end of life planning; including business succession, wills and trusts, and guardian conservatorships. She has spoken several times on the subject of the working knowledge of taxes as it impacts consideration of formation of various estate documents. Ms. Urbom is a member of the Kansas and Topeka bar associations, Women's Attorneys Association of Topeka, and Jenny Mitchell Kellogg Circle. She earned her B.S. degree from St. Mary of the Plains College and her J.D. degree from Washburn University of Topeka.
