Speaker bio
John Gazzola
has spent the last decade representing project owners, EPC contractors, design-builders, general contractors, and specialty subcontractors in complex construction disputes arising from a variety of large-scale construction projects across the United States and abroad. He has represented clients in disputes arising from the design and construction of mass transit systems, renewable energy projects (including wind, solar, and hydropower projects), fiber optic networks, manufacturing facilities, hotels, and other large commercial and industrial buildings. John has extensive experience in state and federal courts and domestic and international arbitration proceedings. Beyond dispute resolution, John counsels clients in the drafting and negotiation of construction contracts. He leverages his disputes experience to provide valuable counseling to clients throughout the project lifecycle, advising clients on claim and defense strategies, dispute avoidance, strategic negotiations, and informal dispute resolution.

Sunu M. Pillai
is an attorney with Saul Ewing LLP, where he focuses his practice on commercial and government contracts in the construction and energy industries. He is an approved mediator with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Pillai holds multiple industry certifications including Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Earned Value Professional (EVP), Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) and Certified Cost Professional (CCP). He received his B.Tech degree from Cochin University of Science and Technology, his M.S. degree from the University of Michigan, his Graduate Certificate in Asian Studies from the University of Pittsburgh Center for International Studies, and his J.D. degree along with a Certificate in International and Comparative Law from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. In addition to his law degree, he holds a master's degree in naval architecture and marine engineering, and an undergraduate degree in naval architecture. He is a member of the American Bar Association and American Inns of Court.

Julian E. Neiser
is a commercial and construction trial attorney with Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC, where he serves as vice chair of the Litigation Department and co-chair of the construction group. He has extensive experience in litigation, contract negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Neiser is a member of the AAA Roster of Neutrals and Arbitrators, and has tried numerous cases to verdict in state and federal courts, as well as private arbitration. He is a member of the Board of Governors for the Allegheny County Bar association and an officer with the Civil Litigation Section. In 2019, Mr. Neiser was the chair of the Construction Section. He previously was a litigation attorney with Meyer, Unkovic & Scott, Tucker Arensberg, and McGuireWoods and served as the general counsel of The Rhodes Group, an international construction claims consulting company. Mr. Neiser earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law, where he currently serves as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy. He is a former enlisted Marine and served as a drill instructor at Parris Island.

Jeffrey Wallack
is a principal at Post & Schell, P.C. in the firm's construction, government contracts and surety law practice group. He represents owners, general contractors, and specialty subcontractors in construction-related matters, from contract drafting through bid disputes, to project completion and, if necessary, claims submission and dispute resolution. Mr. Wallack's clients range from individual clients to closely held local businesses to national corporations. He has handled public bid disputes in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, prosecutes payment claims for contractors and subcontractors on public and private construction projects, defends clients against construction defect claims, and asserts mechanics' lien claims for contractor and subcontractor clients. Mr. Wallack also represents clients in insurance coverage disputes against national and/or international insurance companies and assists clients with contract and other business disputes. This includes counsel and representation regarding insurance coverage claims and issues, including issues concerning insurance coverage for defective construction. He has represented clients in litigation before the state and federal courts of both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as in arbitrations, mediations, and other types of alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Wallack earned his A.B. degree from Princeton University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit; U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; and U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Mr. Wallack is a member of the New Jersey and Pennsylvania State bar associations; American Bar Association, Forum on the Construction Industry; Pennsylvania Bar Association; Montgomery County Bar Association, and University of Pennsylvania Law School, American Inn of Court.

is a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. A fellow of both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, he is a trial lawyer with a particular focus on energy, environmental, construction, and financial matters. Mr. Gisleson applies a creative and trial-ready approach to achieve client objectives across a broad range of complex business litigation, recognizing that every client, every case, and every trial has its unique characteristics, needs, and goals. He has served as lead trial counsel in both defending and prosecuting matters in federal and state courts, and has represented clients in arbitration. Mr. Gisleson earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from University of Notre Dame and his J.D. degree from Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
