Jason Kotlyarov
focuses his practice on providing full-service representation to employee benefit plans, including multiemployer retirement plans, health and welfare plans and apprenticeship plans. He assists plans with subrogation matters, service provider requests for proposals ("RFPs") and transitions, prohibited transaction evaluation and exemptions, compliance with applicable laws and regulations (including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act ["ERISA"] Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ["HIPAA"], Families First Coronavirus Response Act ["FFCRA"] , Affordable Care Act ["ACA"], etc.), cybersecurity related matters, amendment drafting and implementation, regulatory compliance, delinquent contribution collection, qualified domestic relations order ("QDRO") evaluation and processing, litigation and more. Additionally, Mr. Kotlyarove performs policy and plan audits for multiemployer plans to ensure that policies, procedures, standards and plan documents, are compliant with applicable regulations and are both practical and reflective of the respective plans' operations and needs. He has experience working with single employer benefit plans, public plans, and others. In addition, Mr. Kotlyarov advises other attorneys and investment advisers on ERISA and employee benefits-related matters. He also regularly trains trustees and others on issues involving ERISA and HIPAA. Mr. Kotlyarov earned his B.S. degree from University of Missouri Kansas City, and his J.D. and LL.M. degrees from University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law.

Colin Finnegan
is a labor and employment attorney at Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete LLP with experience in litigation and traditional labor matters. He zealously defends employers in claims involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA); Titles III and VII of the Civil Rights Act; Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA); Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska state discrimination laws; and other related claims. Mr. Finnegan's experience includes handling all aspects of litigation from the investigation phase through trial. He works with employers to create and implement a practical and effective strategy depending on the unique facts and circumstances of each case. In his practice, Mr. Finnegan also counsels clients in traditional labor matters, including union organizing campaigns, unfair labor practice charges, and union awareness training. Using his extensive knowledge of state and federal labor and employment laws, he routinely counsels employers on hiring and firing, drug testing, employment policies and handbooks, and proactive strategies for litigation avoidance. Mr. Finnegan earned his B.A. degree from Northern Illinois University and his J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. Melanie A. Renken
is a seasoned employment litigator and business-minded counsel whose career spans the courtroom, the C‑suite, and high‑stakes crisis management. She has represented employers across the country in state and federal courts, defending claims under Title VII, the ADEA, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA retaliation, AIR21, workers' compensation retaliation, and a range of contract and tort disputes. Ms. Renken is a member of the firm's Aerospace, Drug Testing, and Whistleblower and Retaliation practice groups. She is one of the go-to attorneys at Ogletree for AIR21 retaliation complaints, and a significant portion of her practice is dedicated to defending a global aerospace company in their employment-related lawsuits. Ms. Renken's written and oral advocacy skills have resulted in numerous dispositive wins in California, Illinois, and Missouri state courts, as well as in several federal district courts. She recently led a team of lawyers from various firms across Illinois to defend a lawsuit alleging that 145 school districts had violated students' constitutional rights related to COVID-19 protocols and secured a dismissal with prejudice. Ms. Renken earned her M.A. degree from University of North Carolina and her J.D. degree from Saint Louis University.

Blake M. Edwards
is a partner with Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani LLP. He, along with partner Mallory Overman, head the Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas' labor and employment practice group. Mr. Edwards advises and represents employers in various aspects of labor and employment law, including defending charges of discrimination and lawsuits brought under federal and state law. In addition to litigation, his practice includes counselling employers on employment policies, practices, and litigation avoidance techniques. Mr. Edwards has represented clients in various stages of counselling and litigation including, conducting employment counselling and educational trainings, drafting policies and handbooks, defending prelitigation demands, charges and complaints at state and federal anti-discrimination agencies, litigation, and trial. He has prevailed on motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and motions for directed verdict. Trevor M. Bond
is of counsel at Ogletree Deakins. He has represented businesses of varying sizes in pre-suit settlement negotiations and other matters, and in litigation pending in federal and state courts in Kansas and Missouri. He has tried multiple jury trials to a verdict, and has been the attorney developing the case strategy from case inception through trial. Mr. Bond has experience with and has obtained favorable results for clients on a variety of motions, including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment. He has extensive experience representing businesses in a variety of cases and pre-suit matters alleging employment discrimination, including those brought under federal and state law. Outside of the employment context, Mr. Bond has experience defending businesses faced with allegations of construction defects, catastrophic injury and wrongful death, and violations of consumer protection laws. Outside of the litigation context, he has also counseled businesses on compliance issues related to accommodations, leave policies, and termination decisions. 's practice areas include commercial litigation, including breach of contract, premises liability, and personal injury; and employment law. He has assisted with cases in federal and state courts and works with clients to provide outcomes consistent with client's desired strategies and goals, whether this is through litigation or through early resolution. Mr. Taylor has represented clients in various stages of litigation including defending prelitigation demands, mediation, charges with state anti-discrimination agencies, and litigation. Before his legal career, he graduated from the University of Kansas with a major in chemical engineering with an environmental emphasis. Mr. Taylor has worked as a construction materials tester and an environmental engineer. As an environmental engineer for Textron Aviation, he oversaw the compliance for three different manufacturing sites, including renewing NPDES and POTW permits, overseeing heavy metal water treatment facilities, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and municipal laws. Mr. Taylor earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from University of Kansas.
