Rebecca J. Bernhard
is a partner with Barnes & Thornburg, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She advises companies in a variety of industries on how to effectively navigate labor, employment and business challenges. Practical and incisive, Ms. Bernhard brings a solutions-oriented approach and strong legal acumen that enable her to resolve clients' issues in a manner that minimizes risks. With experience that spans traditional labor and employment counseling, talent management, and immigration and global mobility challenges, Ms. Bernhard helps companies quickly resolve the complicated employment problems that can arise in the course of organizational changes. Ms. Bernhard guides clients through corporate transactions, advising on labor and employment diligence, negotiating with unions, and assisting with post-acquisition or post-divestiture integration. She has particular experience helping food, beverage and agribusiness companies and cooperatives with their employment and human resources problems. In addition to her labor and employment practice, Ms. Bernhard assists clients with their business immigration needs, including securing temporary and permanent U.S. visas, Form I-9 compliance training and audit defense, and merger and acquisition-related counseling. She is a frequent author and speaker on labor and employment topics confronting HR professionals, including legal issues related to talent management, succession planning and compliance. Also skilled at alternative dispute resolution, Ms. Bernhard is a qualified neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Bernhard was a partner at a Minneapolis-based law firm. She also brings the perspective of an in-house counsel, as she was senior vice president of HR and associate general counsel at one of the nation's largest student loan guarantors. Ms. Bernhard also has direct experience in labor relations, including serving as the director of labor relations for a telemarketing company prior to attending law school, making her a trusted adviser to employers in virtually all aspects of managing unionized employees.

Adam Bouka
is an attorney with Holland & Hart LLP in Salt Lake City, Utah. He advises a diverse range of clients, from startups to Fortune 500 companies, on navigating the complexities of state and federal employment laws. Mr. Bouka assists employers in developing robust, defensible workplace policies and customized compliance programs. He helps create comprehensive employee handbooks, implement HR protocols, and deliver training tailored to their workforce and industry. Mr. Bouka also represents clients in a range of employment and business litigation matters, including wage and hour claims, wrongful discharge, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, trade secret misappropriation, and unfair competition. His litigation experience also extends to complex business disputes involving restrictive covenants, whistleblower claims, defamation, and other business torts. Employers rely on Mr. Bouka not only for litigation defense but also for real-time counsel on sensitive personnel decisions, internal investigations, and preventative risk management. He conducts training for supervisors and employees on critical HR topics to help ensure compliance with EEOC standards and state-specific mandates, particularly those unique to California. Prior to joining Holland & Hart, Mr. Bouka practiced at a full-service law firm in Southern California, where he advised clients across a broad spectrum of industries on both employment and general business litigation. He earned his J.D. degree at Brigham Young University's J. Rueben Clark Law School and his M.B.A. degree at Boise State University. Mr. Bouka is admitted to practice in Utah and California, and is fluent in Spanish and French.

William S. Helfand
is a partner in the Houston and Salt Lake City offices of Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith, LLP and is chair of the school districts and municipalities practice, vice chair of the labor and employment practice, and a vice chair of the civil rights and police defense litigation practice. Mr. Helfand has been a part of over 175 jury trials and arbitrations involving a variety of practice areas, including labor and employment, commercial litigation, civil rights, and public entity professional liability defense. His labor and employment law practice focuses on the defense of both public and private employers throughout Texas and the United States. Mr. Helfand has also handled a variety of appeals and is responsible for hundreds of reported appellate and supreme court decisions. He is actively involved in advising clients on risk management and policy creation and implementation. He regularly provides training in labor, employment and civil rights and governmental liability training and training for employers and managers, governmental officials and employees in all areas of law. Mr. Helfand is regularly asked to speak in legal continuing education and other forums, he is frequently interviewed by various media, and he speaks frequently to peer and professional groups. He has served as an adjunct instructor for Sam Houston State University's law enforcement and corrections management professional development programs and as visiting adjunct professor for University of Houston, Clear Lake on the topic of business law and a member of the American Arbitration Association's Arbitration and Mediation Panels for Labor & Employment, Commercial, and Consumer cases. He earned his J.D. degree with honors at Tulane University College of Law. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Texas, Utah, United States Supreme Court, and United States Courts of Appeals (Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth circuits).

Mitch M. Longson
is a partner at Manning Curtis Bradshaw & Bednar. Mr. Longson's practice focuses primarily on labor and employment matters and general commercial litigation. He takes a solutions-oriented approach to helping clients navigate complex employment problems and commercial disputes, and when those problems wind up in the courtroom, Mr. Longson uses a wealth of diverse litigation experience to achieve the best outcomes possible for his clients. Mr. Longson practices extensively in state and federal courts, the Utah Labor Commission, the EEOC, and in arbitration, representing clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses, local governments and quasi-governmental entities, individuals, and everything in between. Mr. Longson also dedicates a portion of his practice to environmental and natural resources issues, aiding clients in protecting public lands and resources throughout Utah that he loves. During law school, Mr. Longson interned for the Honorable David Nuffer, then-Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Utah. Prior to working at Manning Curtis Bradshaw & Bednar, Mr. Longson worked as a law clerk for Union Pacific Railroad Co., working primarily on labor and employment matters.

is the sole practitioner with the Law Offices of David J. Holdsworth, where his main areas of practice include employment law, workers' compensation, dispute resolution and mediation, and Social Security/disability law. Mr. Holdsworth is admitted to practice in Utah and before the U.S. District Court, District of Utah; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association (Board of Directors of the Utah Chapter) and the National Organization of Social Security Claimant Representatives. is an attorney at Holland & Hart LLP, where she provides clients with a pragmatic roadmap for avoiding and managing business and employment disputes from the investigation stage through trial. Kody's experience includes a range of employment disputes, complex civil litigation, shareholder and partnership disputes, non-compete litigation, and other commercial disputes, including state and federal wage claims, FLSA collective Actions, and state wage and hour disputes. She also defends employers during government investigations and before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, UALD, state labor commissions, the Department of Industrial Relations, the Department of Labor, and the National Labor Relations Board. Kody provides valuable insight, counseling, and training to human resources and in-house legal teams on employment matters. Her approach is designed to help employers avoid disputes by remaining compliant with employment laws and regulations and ensuring in-house teams have the training and assistance they need to comply with the myriad of state and federal laws.
