Stephanie M. Moon
is an attorney with Armstrong Teasdale LLP in the firm's litigation practice group, focusing on a variety of legal matters, including professional liability, shareholder disputes, cannabis and employment. She represents clients in a variety of industries and business sectors in both federal and state courts. Ms. Moon started her legal career in litigation for a national law firm, where she worked on civil rights class actions and authored appellate briefs for the US. Court of Appeals for Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Her experience also included contract disputes, product liability cases, negligence and nursing home defense work. Ms. Moon was previously a trial lawyer at Novack and Macey in Chicago, and joined Armstrong Teasdale in 2023. While at Novack and Macey, she focused her practice on legal malpractice matters and commercial litigation. During that time, Ms. Moon co-authored over a dozen blog posts for the firm's Illinois Legal Malpractice and Defense of Lawyers blog. She earned her B.A. degree, cum laude, from University of Dayton; and her J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Loyola University School of Law.

Ashleigh N. Johnson
is a partner in Foley Mansfield's St. Louis office. She practices in toxic and mass tort defense, in addition to employment law and litigation. In her work in mass tort defense, Ms. Johnson represents manufacturers, contractors, distributors, and premises in both state and federal court. She regularly and successfully defends experts and corporate representatives as part of national litigation and handles mass volume discovery and motion practice. As an employment law attorney, Ms. Johnson has successfully addressed charges for discrimination and other alleged employer/employee violations at both the administrative and civil court levels. She regularly counsels businesses of all sizes, including public entities, regarding law and policy changes which may affect their business and employee relations, including addressing possible conflicts around hirings and terminations as they arise through presentations and real-time counseling. Ms. Johnson has also worked on cases involving failure of employer fiduciaries to fulfill requirements under ERISA. Within the firm, she is the founder and chair of the firm's Well-Being Committee. Ms. Johnson has also served on the firm's Mentoring and Internal Education committees. She also serves on The Missouri Bar's Lawyer's Living Well Committee, as well as the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis's Well-Being Committee. Ms. Johnson has previously written and spoken on topics relating to mental health and the law, mentorship in practice, ethics and civil procedure. She has previously acted as pro bono counsel for various community groups and has represented prisoners in litigation in the Southern District of Illinois. Ms. Johnson is currently serving a term on the Maplewood Public Library Board. She has previously volunteered her time with the American Lung Association and the League of Women Voters. Ms. Johnson earned her B.A. degree from University of Illinois Champaign and her J.D. degree from St Louis University School of Law.

Patrick Eckler
is a partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary LLP's Chicago office and is co-chair of the firm's professional liability/errors and omissions national practice section. He is a highly experienced litigator who focuses his practice on defending lawyers, accountants, insurance brokers, and other professionals in a variety of civil disputes in state and federal courts across Illinois and Indiana. Mr. Eckler's practice ranges from representing insurers in coverage disputes to defending professionals, businesses, and tort defendants in complex litigation. His commercial litigation experience involves complex contract disputes and class-action lawsuits. Mr. Eckler's coverage practice for insurers and the insured involves commercial general liability and personal lines policies, issues involving the duty to defend and indemnify, bad faith, and the application of exclusions. His tort defense work spans the representations of product manufacturers and distributors, trucking and transportation clients, and premises owners. Drawing on his experience as a college basketball coach, Mr. Eckler has also represented a coach before the NCAA Committee on infractions. He is active in the organized defense bar both at the state and national level. Mr. Eckler is a committee chair, columnist and board member with both the Illinois Defense Counsel and the Professional Liability Defense Federation. He also serves as the current president of the PLDF. Mr. Eckler publishes extensively in professional journals on a wide range of topics, including legal ethics, attorney-client privilege, and Illinois and federal civil procedure. He also provides thought leadership on substantive areas of law ranging from products liability and toxic torts to premises liability and claims against accountants. Mr. Eckler earned his B.A. degree from University of Chicago and his J.D. degree from University of Florida, Frederic G. Levin College of Law.

Matthew R. Carlyon
focuses his practice in areas of commercial litigation, creditor's rights, regulatory law, business reorganization, legal ethics and insurance litigation. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, his experience includes providing bankruptcy-related litigation assistance to diverse corporate entities and financial institutions, and serving as litigation counsel in insurance subrogation matters. Mr. Carlyon also served as an assistant bar counsel in the state of Nevada, where he prosecuted allegations of attorney misconduct before disciplinary panels and the Nevada Supreme Court. He earned his B.A. degree, with honors, from Columbia College and his J.D. degree from Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Artaka L. Ross, Jr.
is a zealous advocate for elders and those with disabilities. At DDV Law, Ltd., Mr. Ross concentrates his practice on elder law, including administration of estates and trusts, special needs planning, and estate planning and guardianship. Mr. Ross graduated from the University of DePaul College of Law where he founded the First Generation Law Student Organization. This organization served to ease the transition for over 60 students who were first generation college attendees. While a student, Mr. Ross served as a volunteer at the DePaul Criminal Appeals Clinic and was the research assistant to the dean of the College of Law, Jennifer Rosato-Perra. Mr. Ross is devoted to his community. He has served on the Executive Board of the Black Law Students Association, he is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Cook County Bar Association, and the Black Men Lawyer's Association. He is also an active member of the NAEPC (National Association of Estate Planners Council) where he will be attending the national conference in Anaheim, California. Mr. Ross is admitted to practice law in Illinois and Indiana, and is awaiting admission to the Supreme Court of Michigan. He is passionate about helping clients and aiding in their long-term future with Medicaid, estate and disability planning.
