is the president and founder of Hummel Consultation Services, a national legal consultation practice specializing in the application of the Medicare Secondary Payer Act to workers' compensation, liability and no-fault cases. She is an active attorney with licensure in the state of Colorado. With more than 19 years of experience in Medicare compliance, Ms. Hummel is a published author and popular speaker on a wide array of topics related to Medicare compliance. She is a member of the American Bar Association (Health Law Section) and Colorado Bar Association. Ms. Hummel's legal experience work includes Medicaid, probate and elder law. She donates a significant amount of time volunteering with the Federal Park Service, giving presentations on the roles of women during the American War of Independence. Ms. Hummel earned her B.S. degree from the University of Southern California and her J.D. degree from the University of Denver College of Law.

She is admitted to the Louisiana Bar Association and licensed in all federal courts in Louisiana as well as the United States Fifth Circuit. Before joining the law firm in January 2023, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Donald “Chick” L. Foret in the 24th Judicial District Court of Jefferson Parish. She also previously served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Fredericka H. Wicker at the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal. She received her law degree from Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans, where she specialized in civil law while also receiving a certificate in common law. Katherine was named as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in the area of Medical Malpractice.

What happens if my course is cancelled?
In the unlikely event that NBI cancels or reschedules an upcoming program, each registered attendee will be contacted via email by a representative of NBI. Outreach to attendees begins as soon as NBI is made aware that a program will not move forward at its originally scheduled date and time.
