Speaker bio
Shane D. Sclichter
is a partner in the law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, where he is a member of the finance, energy and real estate group. He has nearly two decades of experience in banking and commercial finance law. In his practice, Mr. Sclichter primarily represents commercial banks and borrowers in a wide range of multi-lender and single lender secured and unsecured financing transactions, including real estate development and construction financing, asset-based lending facilities, acquisition financings, equipment financings, mezzanine financings, and intercreditor and subordination agreements. He also has experience with real estate sales and acquisitions (commercial and residential), including purchase and sales agreements, title insurance matters, inspection issues, transfer tax issues, survey requirements, and leasing issues. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sclichter was senior counsel at First Niagara Bank. He earned his B.A. degree from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina and his J.D. degree from the Duquesne University School of Law. He is a member of The West Virginia Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and New Jersey State Bar Association.

Sheri Kanesaka
is of counsel at Greenberg Traurig, LLP. She focuses her practice on litigation involving title issues (perfection, rights, restrictions), lien security and priority disputes, bad faith title insurance claims, escrow negligence, tax liens, and bankruptcy matters. Ms. Kanesaka earned her B.A. degree from University of California at Berkeley and her J.D. degree from University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

Casey L. Cirner
is principal of Miles & Stockbridge in Rockville, Maryland. She practices in the areas of land use, zoning, municipal law, real estate and appellate litigation. Ms. Cirner's clients are residential and commercial property owners, developers and builders, whom she represents through the various development processes including subdivision, site plan, rezoning, master planning, conditional use, variance, annexation, permitting and historic preservation. She assists various clients in public and private sectors with real estate transactions, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating things like easements, licenses, covenants and more. Ms. Cirner also performs development feasibility studies and counsels clients in boundary, quiet title and easement disputes. She was selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of land use and zoning and real estate litigation (2022-2024) and real estate law (2023-2024). Ms. Cirner earned her J.D. degree from University of Baltimore School of Law.

Kate M. Grady
concentrates her practice on commercial real estate, finance and real estate transactions. She has extensive experience in title examination and review for title insurance purposes (for both residential and commercial real estate) and for mineral estates. With her prior experience working with title companies and as a landman, Ms. Grady has experience curing title defects, clearing liens, providing title opinions and assisting clients through the title process from inception to post-closing. She is skilled at reviewing the diligence in connection with real estate acquisition and financing. With vast experience reviewing title documents, surveys, and zoning, Ms. Grady can solve the most complex title issues. Additionally, she has experience drafting many types of real estate documents including loan documents, security instruments, indemnities, NDAs, and estoppels. Ms. Grady earned her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Akron and her J.D. degree from University of Akron School of Law.

Anita I. Lotz
is a member of the Memphis law firm of Phelps Dunbar LLP, where her areas of practice include commercial lending, real estate transactions, title law, foreclosures, and financial institutions regulatory law. She has spoken for various business and professional organizations on a variety of foreclosure and commercial lending issues. Ms. Lotz is a member of the Memphis, Tennessee and American (member, Business Law Section) bar associations; and the Association of Women Attorneys. She earned her B.A. degree from Northwestern University and her J.D. degree from Boston University.
