Speaker bio
Kelechi Okengwu
is an associate in Baker McKenzie's litigation and government enforcement practice group. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at another international law firm, and previously clerked for The Honorable Marcia G. Cooke of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Ms. Okengwu focuses her practice on a broad range of internal and government investigations as well as high-stakes complex commercial litigation disputes in federal and state courts. She routinely represents high-profile individuals and multinational corporations facing exposure to civil and criminal liability, whether in a single jurisdiction or across many. Ms. Okengwu's litigation matters involve securities transactions, breach of contracts, and investigations. She also advises clients on the design and implementation of compliance programs and performs due diligence on high-risk business transactions. Ms. Okengwu is admitted in the states of New York and Florida.

Cynthia E. Everson
is an attorney at Everson Law Firm PLLC, where she provides private representation for federal and state criminal and civil matters, with an emphasis on indigent representation. Ms. Everson has defended people accused of gun crimes in both state and federal court, and has litigated issues related to the right to possess and carry firearms, as well as property issues related to retrieving firearms that were seized by law enforcement. She is an adjunct writing instructor at Rowan Cabarrus Community College in Concord, North Carolina and has been teaching there for two years. Ms. Everson earned her B.A. degree from Gardner Webb University; her M.A. degree from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte; and her J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Charlotte School of Law.

Ashwin J. Ram
is a shareholder at Buchalter. His practice encompasses a broad range of matters, including investigations, white-collar criminal defense, securities litigation, class actions, state and federal False Claims Act litigation, complex business disputes, and high-stakes "bet-the-company" litigation. Mr. Ram also advises clients on crisis management, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. He is recognized for both his trial and appellate work. As a former federal prosecutor and defense lawyer, Mr. Ram has tried more than two dozen cases to verdict and has briefed or argued numerous state and federal appeals, including before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He earned his B.A. degree from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and his J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. Mr. Ram is admitted to practice in California; U.S. Supreme Court; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit; and U.S. District Courts for the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern districts of California; as well as the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern District of New York and Western District of Oklahoma.
