Speaker bio
Stephen M. Kessler
is general counsel at Fernmoor Homes. He brings to the firm his broad experience in commercial real estate law, title expertise and business transactions to manage and resolve issues for his clients in an efficient and time sensitive manner. With a diverse background in all areas of real estate law, Mr. Kessler represented large and small companies, government agencies and institutions in financing, development and acquisitions, Low-Income Tax Credit transactions, leasing, and zoning and land use. He is a member of the Delaware State, Pennsylvania and New Jersey State bar associations. Mr. Kessler is an adjunct professor at Widener Law School and has spoken on the topic "Landlord Tenant Law - How to Prosper in the New Market." He earned his B.A. degree, high honors in history, from Muhlenberg College and his J.D. degree from Rutgers Law School. During his time at Rutgers Law School, Mr. Kessler was also the research editor of the Rutgers Law Journal.

Carmen R. Rowe
is the owner of Gryphon Law Group PS, with offices in Seattle, Lacey and Chehalis. She has focused her practice on real property, business and probate. Ms. Rowe's work with real property includes easements, adverse possession and other boundary disputes, purchase and sale agreements, leases, association work, agriculture, timber, water, and related insurance. She focuses on practical resolutions, while bringing strong litigation and appellate history with several published appellate decisions on key property issues. Ms. Rowe is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University and Columbia Law School (with a certificate in international law), both with honors.

Savannah M. Loftis
is an associate at Schuckit & Associates, P.C. where she practices civil litigation, collection, business litigation, real estate, community association law, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. She served as secretary of Community Association Institute Indiana Chapter's Legislative Action Committee and lecturer for Community Association Institute Indiana Chapter. Ms. Loftis is also a member of Indianapolis Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association. She earned her B.S. degree from Tennessee Technological University and her J.D. degree from Southern Illinois University. Ms. Loftis is licensed to practice law in Indiana, Illinois and before the U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern districts of Illinois; and Northern and Southern districts of Indiana.

James A. Hochman
is a partner with the Chicago firm of Schain Banks Kenny & Schwartz, Ltd., where he represents commercial real estate brokerage firms, landlords, tenants and commercial real estate investors, assisting in all phases of commercial and residential real estate. Mr. Hochman is a frequent speaker on real estate broker related legal issues for state and local estate organizations. He co-wrote and sponsored the Illinois Commercial Real Estate Broker Lien Act, and through his drafting and lobbying efforts, several other states have adopted similar statutes. Mr. Hochman is also active in support of license portability legislation for commercial real estate brokers, and is the architect and drafter of statutes in several estates on that issue as well. He earned his A.B. degree from Brown University and his J.D. degree from Boston University School of Law.
