Perry Salzhauer
is an attorney with McGlinchey Stafford PLLC, where he provides strategic and compliance guidance, and legal advice to public and private entities in the areas of corporate and environmental law. As an attorney, advisor, and manager, Mr. Salzhauer streamlines operational, compliance and management processes to create efficiencies which increase productivity and revue. In addition, he has experience and expertise in all aspects of marijuana-related business. Mr. Salzhauer is admitted to practice law in Oregon and New York, and is an active member of the Sustainable Future Section of the Oregon State Bar. He earned his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University Law School and his LL.M. degree in environmental and natural resources law from Lewis & Clark Law School.

Daniel Shortt
is a regulatory and corporate attorney. With experience in the hemp and marijuana industries, he advises federal agencies, top-tier cannabis corporations, and ambitious entrepreneurs in entering, succeeding in, and exiting the industry. Mr. Shortt provides highly tailored advice on heavily regulated topics, including contracts, regulatory guidance, administrative advice, employment issues, real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general legal counsel. Frequently speaking on legal issues relating to cannabis across the country and abroad, he is quoted on cannabis law in publications including Marijuana Moment, Hemp Industry Daily, The Washington Post and Bloomberg, to name a few. As a founding member of the Washington State Bar Association's Cannabis Law Section and as a prolific writer on national and state-specific cannabis topics, Mr. Shortt has been instrumental in helping to shape the legal landscape of the industry. In the complex landscape of cannabis and hemp regulation across multiple states, he analyzes diverse approaches and distills complex legal concepts into clear, understandable explanations. Driven by his belief that lawyers should be an integral part of a client's team, Mr. Shortt strives to bridge the gap between legal intricacies and business goals as a trusted partner for clients navigating the complexities of these evolving markets. He earned his B.A. degree from Gonzaga University and his J.D. degree from University of Washington School of Law.

Jeffrey Gard
is a Colorado attorney with Gard Law Firm, LLC, specializing in marijuana law. He represents numerous patients, doctors and marijuana businesses throughout the state of Colorado, and has advised people from all over the country. Mr. Gard advises both state and local governments in their development of medical marijuana business regulations. He is widely considered one of Colorado's leading marijuana attorneys. Since the passage of Amendment 64 which legalized adult possession and cultivation of marijuana in Colorado, Mr. Gard has been working with state and local officials in developing regulations for the retail marijuana industry and was appointed by the state to participate in the rule-making progress. Over the last year, he has been working with the U.S. Congress to assist with an analysis of the federal code to determine the various areas which are impacted by the state marijuana laws, in hopes of reconciling state and federal law in the near future. Mr. Gard now shares his knowledge and experience with other attorneys and has given several CLE lectures on various aspects of marijuana law. He is a Colorado native and a cum laude philosophy graduate from the University of Colorado, where he also was elected Phi Beta Kappa. While attending law school, Mr. Gard won the William De Souchet Award for best individual performance in trial advocacy, and won a multi-state moot court competition during his first year of law school. After graduation, he accepted a position with a respected litigation firm in Boulder, Colorado, and later formed his own firm in downtown Boulder, Colorado.

Jill Scher
is a partner in the tax and business services division of Marcum LLP's Melville office. With more than 25 years of public and private experience, she has an outstanding reputation for developing strong relationships and uses her diverse experience, technical proficiency and problem-solving skills to consult with a wide range of businesses and industries. Ms. Scher advises on tax minimization and deferral strategies for companies and their owners, and is adept at recognizing tax and credit incentive opportunities, including research and development, work opportunity tax credits, and investment tax credits to name a few. She advises clients about tax ramifications prior to potential transactions and has helped clients with the successful abatement of IRS and state penalties. Ms. Scher has developed a specialty in the cannabis space, assisting companies with technology solutions and tax planning, and helping to forge relationships within the industry. She shares this knowledge through frequent speaking engagements, appearing at professional and industry events on a variety of business and tax topics. Ms. Scher also teaches tax, technical and professional ethics classes for an outside organization, CPE, Inc., providing continuing education to CPAs within the tri-state area on individual and business tax planning and other specialty areas of taxation.

Max Borg
is a partner in the firm's business law department, and a member of the Cannabis Business & Law Advisory practice. He advises business operators and founders, license holders, brands, technology and other ancillary businesses, investors and funds operating in the emerging legal cannabis industry. Mr. Borg'ss cannabis practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, debt financings, restructurings, securities laws compliance, corporate governance, and related commercial transactions. He also serves as outside general counsel to various licensed cannabis dispensaries, cultivators, and manufacturers, helping them navigate an increasingly complex business and regulatory environment through all stages of the business cycle. Mr. Borg combines his finely honed legal and business acumen to serve as a trusted dealmaker, helping his clients grow (and eventually sell) their businesses while mitigating risks along the way. His ability to distill complex information regarding how legal issues manifest into business issues creates significant value for his clients, who feel well-educated and empowered to make critical decisions with his counsel. Mr. Borg goes beyond his role as an attorney to help his clients build relationships to generate growth for their businesses. Before joining Burns & Levinson, Mr. Borg practiced corporate law at a leading boutique, cannabis-focused law firm in New York. He began his career as an associate in the corporate department of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings, debt financings, corporate governance, and general corporate matters. While at Debevoise, Mr. Borg also represented debtors, investors, creditors, and other parties in distressed M&A, workouts, refinancings, complex restructurings, and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. He earned his B.A. degree from George Washington University and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School.
