Speaker bio
James A. Hochman
is a partner with the Chicago firm of Schain Banks Kenny & Schwartz, Ltd., where he represents commercial real estate brokerage firms, landlords, tenants, and commercial real estate investors, assisting in all phases of commercial and residential real estate. Mr. Hochman is a frequent speaker on real estate broker-related legal issues for state and local estate organizations. He co-wrote and sponsored the Illinois Commercial Real Estate Broker Lien Act; and through his drafting and lobbying efforts, several other states have adopted similar statutes. Mr. Hochman is also active in support of license portability legislation for commercial real estate brokers, and is the architect and drafter of statutes in several estates on that issue as well. He earned his A.B. degree from Brown University and his J.D. degree from Boston University School of Law.

Bridget D'Angelo
is an attorney at Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey LLP. Her practice focuses primarily in the areas of business and commercial real estate transactions, representing developers, institutions, corporations, families and individuals in development projects, and real estate transactions. Ms. D'Angelo also represents owners, sponsors and lenders of affordable housing developments. She earned her B.A. degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. degree from The University of Chicago Law School, where she served as the managing editor of the Chicago Journal of International Law. Ms. D'Angelo is a member of the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association, Real Estate Finance Association of Connecticut, Commercial Real Estate Women - The Real Estate Exchange, Connecticut Bar Association, and the New Haven County Bar Association. She is a board member of ConnCORP, Chrysalis Center, Inc., Chrysalis Center Real Estate Corporation and treasurer of the Commercial Finance Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. Ms. D'Angelo is admitted to practice in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Peter M. Gannott
is the principal of the Louisville law firm of Gannott Law Group, PLLC. Since 1985, he has focused his practice in the areas of business and consumer bankruptcy, creditors' rights and commercial collections, complex commercial litigation, and real estate matters. Mr. Gannott works with clients on everything from the creation and dissolution of business entities, to representation of our business clients in business-to-business collections or large asset issues. He is a frequent lecturer on his areas of practice and has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Louisville. Mr. Gannott is board-certified in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification. He graduated, with honors, from the University of Illinois; and earned his J.D. degree from the Washington College of Law, American University.

Steven A. Torres
is a partner in the law firm of West Group Law PLLC. Since 1994, his areas of practice include municipal infrastructure, energy and environmental law, federal/state/local environmental and land use permitting, construction law, litigation, labor negotiation and litigation, arbitration/mediation, municipal governance, and legislation. Mr. Torres is nationally recognized in his practice area, and a frequent lecturer, guest speaker and teacher/mentor to other practitioners. He represents government and private industry in complex water, wastewater, utility, energy, solid waste, emerging technology, and public construction transactions and litigation. Mr. Torres earned his B.S. degree in computer science from Daniel Webster College and his J.D. degree, cum laude, at Suffolk University Law School.
