Speaker bio
Susan E. Briones
is a partner in the Dallas office of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, and a member of the healthcare practice. With a long-term focus in health law, during law school Ms. Briones was a member of University of Houston's Health Law Association, Health Law & Policy Institute, and was chief notes and comments editor for the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy. She then obtained her Master of Laws Degree in health law from the University of Houston Law Center's nationally ranked LL.M. health law program. Ms. Briones has practiced healthcare liability defense in Texas for over 20 years; and has extensive experience representing healthcare providers including physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, and social workers in healthcare liability claims; and providing legal assistance in employment, compliance and contracting matters. She also handles cases involving healthcare institutions such as hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and freestanding emergency, surgical and general medicine clinics. Ms. Briones is a member of the American Health Law Association, State Bar of Texas (Health Law Section), Dallas Bar Association (Health Law Section), and the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM). She is licensed to practice law in Texas and New Mexico.

Reagan E. Boyce
is a partner at Chamblee, Ryan, P.C. Her practice includes a diverse area including medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, construction defect, intellectual property and real property torts. Ms. Boyce also has a diverse background handling litigation matters for bankruptcy trustees, receivers, ABC's and other fiduciaries. She has been part of over a dozen trial teams who have obtained defense verdicts, or have recovered assets involving millions in real and personal property disputes. Ms. Boyce was named a Top 50 Up and Coming Women Lawyer for Southern California and a Rising Star. She was also most recently named a Best Lawyer by Best Lawyers in America. Ms. Boyce graduated from the only ABA accredited two year J.D. program in the country at Southwestern University in Los Angeles, California. She sits on the Board of Directors for the non-profit Miranda's People, an organization that helps provide pro bono vet service and monetary grants to provide treatment to dogs with cancer. Ms. Boyce is licensed to practice in Texas; California; U.S. Court of Appeals Ninth Circuit; U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern districts of Texas, Central and Northern districts of California; U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern, Western and Northern districts of Texas, and Central and Northern districts of California.

Christine Hummel
is the president and founder of Hummel Consultation Services, a national legal consultation practice specializing in the application of the Medicare Secondary Payer Act to workers' compensation, liability and no-fault cases. She is an active attorney with licensure in the state of Colorado. With more than 19 years of experience in Medicare compliance, Ms. Hummel is a published author and popular speaker on a wide array of topics related to Medicare compliance. She is a member of the American Bar Association (Health Law Section) and the Colorado Bar Association. Ms. Hummel's legal experience work includes Medicaid, probate and elder law. She donates a significant amount of time volunteering with the Federal Park Service, giving presentations on the roles of women during the American War of Independence. Ms. Hummel earned her B.S. degree from the University of Southern California and her J.D. degree from the University of Denver College of Law.

Dennis F. O'Brien
is a sole proprietor at the law office of Dennis F. O'Brien, P.A., where his full-time civil litigation practice focuses on serious personal injury; product liability, including drug and medical devices; medical malpractice; nursing home negligence; appellate work; and general civil litigation. Mr. O'Brien is a member of the Maryland State, Harford County, Baltimore County and Baltimore City bar associations; and the American Association for Justice. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of Maryland; U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit; and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. O'Brien is the co-author and author of a variety of articles, and is currently working on a book, Accident Reconstruction for Lawyers, to be nationally published by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA). He earned his B.S. degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the Baltimore School of Law.

Anthony J. Williott
is a shareholder with the law firm of Marshall Dennehey. He practices in the area of civil litigation, with particular emphasis in defense of physicians, hospitals and long-term care facilities in malpractice cases. Mr. Williott also defends product liability, breach of warranty, defamation, and complex matters. He has lectured on and written about medical malpractice defense and the defense perspective in a number of other substantive areas. Mr. Williott earned his B.S. degree from Pennsylvania State University and his J.D. degree from Duquesne University, where he was selected to the Order of Barristers for excellence in trial advocacy following his team's victory in the Gourley Cup Trial Moot Court Competition.
