She has more than 20 years of experience in the legal field, mostly focused in the areas of catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and complex civil litigation. Throughout her career, Ms. Johnson has mentored paralegals of all levels. She was honored as AAJ's National Paralegal of the Year in 2017, and an Unsung Legal Hero by Lawyers Weekly in 2022. Ms. Johnson remains committed to improving legal education through teaching courses in business law and organizational leadership for an international university, serving on the Trident Technical College Advisory Board for its paralegal studies program and offering career skill workshops in Central America. She earned her B.A. degree, cum laude, from Wake Forest University and graduated as a distinguished scholar with her M.S. degree in organizational leadership from Colorado State University.

He has handled a wide variety of complex civil litigation in state, federal and appellate courts, including jury trials and appellate actions. is a Nationally Certified Paralegal with New Mexico Legal Aid's VOCA program and has been a Paralegal for eight years. She was raised in a small town in Southern New Mexico, where she attended high school and was in numerous activities such as Leadership, Cheerleading, National Honor Society, and Mock Tail. After graduating High School in 2014, Ms. Whipple obtained her Associate's in Paralegal Studies, and volunteered with New Mexico Legal Aid as a family law and domestic abuse Paralegal while obtaining her Associates in Business Office Technology and Business Fundamentals Certificate. While attending NMSU, Ms. Whipple was a member of the National Honor Society, NMSU Cheer Team and was a Crimson Scholar and Meritorious Graduate. In 2017, she became a team member of the Law Office of Jill V. Johnson Vigil working as a Paralegal for family law, kinship guardianship, adoption, and name change cases. In early 2020, Ms. Whipple became a member of the New Mexico State Bar Paralegal Division where she was a served as a board member and Scholarship Committee Chair. Ms. Whipple also received her National Certification through the National Association of Legal Assistance (NALA) in April of 2020. In January of 2021, she began working with crime and domestic abuse victims as a Certified Paralegal with New Mexico Legal Aid. Coming from a rural area Ms. Whipple is passionate about providing legal services to victims the rural areas of New Mexico, as well as guiding other Paralegals and young individuals on their path to success.

is an associate professor of law at the Charleston School of Law. She teaches classes on torts, children and the law, workplace privacy, and advanced legal research. Ms. Smith-Butler served as the assistant dean and director of the law library and technology center at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At Nova Southwestern, she served as an associate professor of law, teaching advanced legal research and juvenile law in the law program and workplace privacy and technology in the master's degree employment law program. Ms. Smith-Butler also has served as the public services librarian at Georgia State University and as a librarian at a major Atlanta law firm. She has been in private law practice, and is licensed in Nebraska and Georgia. Ms. Smith-Butler is the co-author and editor of Law Librarianship in the 21st Century. She is active in several local, regional and national law library associations. Ms. Smith-Butler taught advanced legal research, and children and the law. She earned her B.A. degree from Hasting College, her M.L.S. degree from Clark Atlanta University, and her J.D. degree from Creighton University School of Law.

In the unlikely event that NBI cancels or reschedules an upcoming program, each registered attendee will be contacted via email by a representative of NBI. Outreach to attendees begins as soon as NBI is made aware that a program will not move forward at its originally scheduled date and time.
