Speaker bio
Matthew B. Wenzlau
is the founder of the WSE Firm, PLLC, located in Nashville, Tennessee and Scottsdale, Arizona. For over 25 years, he has worked in the music, film, entertainment, and privacy/data industries Mr. Wenzlau's body of work includes securitization, funding and distribution for multi-million-dollar motion pictures; production counsel/producer for feature-length films and television shows; and general counsel for Grammy award winning music artists. His practice also includes specialized trusts, legal and branding matters, and client representation before federal, state and local regulatory agencies, including the USPTO, United States Copyright Office, and the SEC. Mr. Wenzlau is a long-time member of the Recording Academy, Gospel Music Association and the Country Music Association. He earned his B.A. degree from Baylor University, his J.D. degree from Regent University School of Law and his M.B.A. degree from Arizona State University. Mr. Wenzlau is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and the State Bar of Tennessee.

Arthur K. Shaffer
is an attorney with McDowell Rice Smith & Buchanan P.C. He earned his B.S. degree from Kansas State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, with an emphasis in the areas of litigation and protection of intellectual property rights. Using electrical and computer engineering principles, Mr. Shaffer developed control systems for use in the largest and most demanding projects around the world, including the new Hong Kong airport. He has utilized his legal skills as an attorney in roles within the government, a Fortune 500 company, and various small businesses. Mr. Shaffer has spoken before various legal, civic, social and professional organizations. As a founder of the Intellectual Property Center, LLC, he has dedicated his legal career to serving entrepreneurs and businesses by helping them protect and promote their intellectual innovations, including their copyrights, trademarks and patents. Mr. Shaffer also volunteers with the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) by mentoring small businesses on a variety of issues.

Frederic Rocafort
is a member of Harris Sliwoski LLP's intellectual property practice and is dedicated to helping businesses from around the world and across industries protect their brands as they grow. Many of his clients operate in spaces that constitute new frontiers for IP law, such as cannabis, psychedelics, and Web3. Mr. Rocafort began his career overseas as a U.S. consular officer in Guangzhou, where he advocated for fairer treatment of American companies and citizens in China and for stronger intellectual property rights enforcement. After entering the private sector, he led the legal team at a Hong Kong-based brand protection consultancy, spending most of his time out in the field, protecting clients against counterfeiters and fraudsters, and helping secure their R&D and manufacturing facilities in Greater China, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Mr. Rocafort earned his B.A. degree from University of Michigan, his J.D. degree from University of Notre Dame Law School, and his LL.M. degree in Chinese business law from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

is a business, intellectual property, entertainment, and litigation attorney with Harris Sliwosk LLPi's Seattle office. A collaborative team member and keen negotiator, he helps businesses navigate complex problems with simple and straightforward solutions. Whether working hands-on with clients to develop and protect their brands, or spearheading a novel legal matter, Mr. Hartman is dedicated to crafting meaningful and lasting legal solutions for his clients. Fostering a sense of creativity and collaboration has helped him counsel many emerging and established start-ups. Mr. Hartman believes that law cannot be practiced in a vacuum, and enjoys shepherding ideas into full-fledged, successful companies across many industries. He also has been privileged to work with non-profits on matters including entertainment law, environmental protection, and international infrastructure projects. In the realm of trademarks, Mr. Hartman is an experienced mediator and litigator, protecting trademarks and resolving high stakes disputes in state and federal court. As a robust IP practitioner, he also crafts trade secret protection plans and complex licensing agreements, so that companies can better protect their creations. Mr. Hartman earned his B.A. degree from University of Albany, his J.D. degree from Widener University of Law, and his LL.M. degree in Intellectual property from University of Washington, Seattle.
