Speaker bio
Ronald J. Dold
serves as underwriting counsel for Westcor Land Title Insurance Company and joined the Texas underwriting staff after five years as an assistant general counsel for The Texas A&M University System. He has over 40 years of experience in real estate related practice. Mr. Dold worked nearly 20 years for two major oil companies in Houston, and prior to his time at A&M, served for 15 years as senior underwriting counsel in a national commercial office for a major title insurance company in Houston, underwriting high liability transactions and working closely with outside counsel for all parties. Since 2006, he has been an active speaker on the CLE circuit on a variety of real estate and title insurance topics, and is also certified as an instructor for TREC & TDI. Mr. Dold earned his bachelor's degree from Kettering University, his master's degree from Texas A&M University in industrial engineering and his J.D. degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston.

Alaina King Benford
is an attorney with Alaina King Benford Law Firm in Houston. She is a trial-tested litigator with nearly two decades of experience trying cases in state and federal courts. Clients of all sizes turn to Ms. King Benford as a trusted advisor based on her experience in multi-party cases involving complex disputes across a range of industries including the energy, mining, commodities and transportation sectors. She regularly represents and defends global energy companies, pipeline companies, municipal and transportation authorities in cases involving commercial disputes, pipeline and industrial safety, construction, eminent domain and condemnation, real estate and land use, and wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury matters arising from incidents on vessels, platforms and drilling rigs. Ms. King Benford is part of a small group of lawyers in Texas with extensive experience representing entities involved in acquiring easements, property and rights-of-way for large projects involving pipelines, water pipelines and transportation projects. She earned her B.B.A. degree from Texas Southern University and her J.D. degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Ms. King Benford is a member of the International Right of Way Association; American Bar Association; National Bar Association; Litigation Counsel of America, fellow; Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), fellow; Texas Bar Foundation, fellow; Texas Association of Defense Counsel; Houston Bar Association, Houston Lawyers Association; Houston Young Lawyers Foundation, fellow; and Association of Women Attorneys Foundation.

Saeed Tellawi
is a real estate broker and attorney representing domestic and international commercial real estate owners and businesses in their major transactions since 2007. His practice focuses on commercial property acquisitions, capital transactions, partnerships, and strategic advice & planning. Mr. Tellawi started his first company at the age of 18 and being continuously self-employed since, has helped him develop a practical approach to business. Drawing on his experiences as a business owner and real estate investor, and those of the clients he's assisted, Mr. Tellawi helps people navigate the entrepreneurial pursuit and achieve the freedom of self-employment. Mr. Tellawi is consistently recognized as a Top Lawyer by publications including Houstonia Magazine and H Texas Magazine, nominations earned from his peers in the legal industry. He served as a mentor at the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Houston. In 2015, Amaral Tellawi Law was a finalist for Texas Family Business of the Year at Baylor University’s Institute for Family Business.

Michael J. Pappert
is a partner in the law firm of BakerHostetler. He is the real estate team leader in the firm's Houston office, where he assists his clients in creating and implementing strategies for their business transactions. For 30 years, Mr. Pappert has applied his skills to hundreds of real estate, finance and business matters. He has been involved in the acquisition, development, leasing, management, financing and sale of commercial and residential real estate, including shopping centers, industrial warehouse projects, office buildings, hotel and recreational developments, and multi- and single-family properties. Mr. Pappert has also represented lenders and borrowers, including financial institutions, mortgage companies, institutional investors, developers and publicly held companies in lending and financing transactions. He has experience in mortgage and asset-based lending and loan workout, restructuring and refinancing matters. In addition, Mr. Pappert has extensively represented entities and individuals in the purchase, sale, restructuring and reorganization of the ownership of business organizations and assets. He earned his J.D. degree from the University of Houston Law Center. Mr. Pappert is a member of the Houston Bar Association, American Bar Association and State Bar of Texas.

is a Partner with Scott Douglass & McConnico in Austin, Texas. He litigated complex business disputes and defends lawyers in professional malpractice cases. Sam has been selected for The Best Lawyers in America in Professional Malpractice Law by BL Rankings from 2007-2025. He earned his J.D. at University of Texas School of Law with high honors.
