Richard J. Melnick
is an attorney with Greenberg Traurig, LLP. He has developed a national practice emphasizing his talent for negotiation in such diverse areas as corporate mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and complex real estate transactions. Mr. Melnick represents public and private companies that purchase, sell, or finance business and real estate assets throughout the United States. He is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Melnick earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Tufts University, his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center and his LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University School of Law.

David H. Holmberg
is a partner with Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner in New York, New York. He advises on the tax aspects of complex commercial transactions. Mr. Holmberg focuses on real estate private equity, including direct lending and distressed strategies. He also has significant experience with public and private REITs and cross-border engagements. Prior to joining BCLP, Mr. Holmberg worked as counsel at another large international law firm. He was also a chief counsel honors program intern at the Internal Revenue Service, Office of the Chief Counsel in New York. Mr. Holmberg earned his J.D. degree from New York University School of Law and is admitted to practice in New York.

Julie A. Treppa
is a partner with Farella Braun + Martel in San Francisco, Calirovnia. Her practice focuses on a broad range of tax-related issues. Ms. Treppa is particularly experienced in developing strategies to help investors, developers, businesses, and non-profit organizations use tax incentives and tax credits to achieve financial goals while supporting social, environmental, and other community-based priorities. Two areas in which she has special expertise are new markets tax credits and opportunity zones. Mr. Treppa has utilized these vehicles for clients on a broad range of projects, ranging from the development of local commercial office buildings and healthcare facilities to a fish processing plant in Alaska and the conservation of a salmon sanctuary in Northern California. She began her tax career as an IRS auditor in the exam division, prior to earning her J.D. degree at University of San Francisco School of Law. Ms. Treppa also holds a M.S. degree in taxation from Golden Gate University School of Tax.

Farhan Ali
is a partner with McCarter & English, LLP in Newark, New Jersey, where he helps prosecute complex property tax appeals. He also advises clients on property tax issues and liabilities, including exemptions, PILOT programs and structures, urban enterprise zone filings, ad valorem taxation, and valuation. Mr. Ali represents clients regarding numerous property types, including nuclear power plants and related utilities, reservoirs, hotels, apartments, student housing, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, data centers, office buildings, office complexes, and corporate headquarters. He earned his J.D. degree at American University, Washington College of Law and is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York. Mr. Ali has been voted One to Watch by The Best Lawyers in America for litigation and controversy-tax, 2022-2025.

Kristina Ogland
is a partner at Estreen & Ogland in Hudson, Wisconsin. She has extensive experience in a broad range of real estate transactions involving sales, leasing, development, taxation and litigation. For over 40 years, Ms. Ogland has represented clients with sound guidance and empathetic support. Her range of experience includes representing both individuals and entities seeking tax deferral under section 1031 of the IRS Code, business formations and dissolutions, litigating cases involving boundary disputes, adverse possession, and the interpretation of contractual clauses related to title and ownership interests. Ms. Ogland earned her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and her J.D. degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
