Speaker bio
Peter L. Ostermiller
is a sole practitioner concentrating in legal ethics and professional responsibility matters. He represents attorneys in disciplinary and reinstatement proceedings, judges in judicial ethics matters, and bar exam applicants. Mr. Ostermiller has also represented parties in attorney's fee dispute proceedings, and attorneys in legal proceedings in which sanctions have been sought against the attorney. He has represented parties in attorney disqualification proceedings and counseled lawyers and law firms in their respective rights, responsibilities and duties to other attorneys and their clients. Mr. Ostermiller is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers. He served on the Kentucky Bar Association's Ethics 2000 Committee, which proposed changes to the Rules of Professional Conduct to the KBA, and resulted in the July 2009 revisions to the ethics rules. Mr. Ostermiller earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Louisville.

Rita B. Robertson
is an attorney in the Raleigh, North Carolina office of Ogletree Deakins. She focuses her practice on labor and employment matters. Mrs. Robertson concentrates her practice on responding to EEOC charges, wrongful discharge litigation, employment discrimination, and actions brought under state and federal laws in North Carolina and Kentucky. She regularly guides employers and their insurance carriers in avoiding litigation by negotiating favorable settlements and by providing training and counseling on a variety of workplace issues. Mrs. Robertson earned her B.S. degree from North Carolina State University and her J.D. degree from North Carolina Central School of Law. She is admitted to practice in North Carolina and Kentucky. Mrs. Robertson is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, Wake County Bar, Fayette County Bar, Tenth Judicial District Bar and Susie Sharp Inn of Court.

Daniel E. Burke
is a partner in the Cincinnati office of Bricker Graydon LLP. He is a seasoned employment law professional. Mr. Burke represents and counsels clients on a wide variety of employment, education, senior care, and workplace health and safety issues. He has represented clients before state and federal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Ohio Civil Rights Commission, Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, Industrial Commission of Ohio, and the Occupational Safety & Health Administration, as well as federal and state trial and appellate courts. Mr. Burke earned his B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame and his J.D. degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He is a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association and National Association of College and University Attorneys.

Irina V. Strelkova
is an attorney in the Louisville office of Frost Brown Todd LLP. She represents employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters, including federal and state litigation, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings concerning claims of wrongful termination, employment discrimination and retaliation, unfair labor practices, wage and hour violations, and various other employment related claims. Ms. Strelkova's practice also includes assisting clients with other aspects of the employer-employee relationship such as handbooks, workplace investigations, non-compete and restrictive covenant agreements, unemployment disputes, and other personnel policies and concerns. She also serves the firm's Immigration Group, assisting clients with employment-based immigration matters such as obtaining temporary visas and green cards. Ms. Strelkova earned her B.S. degree from the University of Louisville and her J.D. degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association and American Bar Association.

Mitchell J. Rhein
is a member of the Charleston, West Virginia office of Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC. His primary area of practice is labor and employment law. Mr. Rhein represents employers and their executives in employment-related claims, including discrimination and harassment; wrongful discharge; breach of contract; breach of noncompete contracts and non-solicitation contracts and disclosure of trade secrets. He also represents employers on traditional labor matters, including unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board; union organizing campaigns and elections; and collective bargaining, as well as Advising employers regarding internal and external investigations on wage and hour issues and allegations of harassment and discrimination. Mr. Rhein earned his B.A. degree from Michigan State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He is admitted to practice in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. is an attorney in the Louisville office of Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC. Ms. Dempsey is dedicated to assisting both small and large businesses in Kentucky with an array of employment matters. She earned her B.S. degree from the University of Louisville and her J.D. degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. Ms. Dempsey is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Indiana. She is a member of the Louisville Young Lawyers Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association, and serves as a Board Member for Louisville's Maryhurst Foundation.

John M. Ghaelian
is an attorney with Lockaby PLLC. He previously worked as the general counsel for the Education and Labor Cabinet's Department of Workplace Standards, where he handled cases involving wage and hour violations and occupational safety. Prior thereto, Mr. Ghaelian worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the Kentucky Attorney General where he handled consumer protection and health care fraud cases. He handles a variety of employment law, including defending employers during governmental investigations, wage and hour cases, and alleged discriminatory conduct. In addition, Mr. Ghaelian works with a variety of employers to provide day-to-day employment law advice. He earned both his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, and J.D. degree from the University of Kentucky where he served as the president of the Student Public Interest Law Foundation and served on the Kentucky Law Review.
