Gene Markin
is a shareholder in Stark & Stark's complex commercial, intellectual property, and cannabis litigation groups, where he concentrates his practice on complex litigation matters involving copyright protection and infringement, trademark and trade dress infringement and enforcement, trade secret litigation, false advertising, domain name disputes, unfair competition, class actions, fraud and consumer fraud, and shareholder and partner disputes. Mr. Markin represents individuals and businesses in all aspects of intellectual property litigation in federal district courts, appellate courts, and state courts. He also represents trademark owners and challengers in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board as well as in domain name disputes in Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy Complaints before the World Intellectual Property Organization and in other country-specific proceedings. Mr. Markin is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania bar associations, and the Union League of Philadelphia. He earned his B.S. degree, cum laude, from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.

Gina M. Austin
is the managing attorney with Austin Legal Group where her practice areas include corporate and securities transactions as well as land use entitlements. Ms. Austin also represents medical cannabis collectives and cooperatives with regard to regulatory compliance and funding strategies. Her experience in land use entitlement provides a foundation for great success obtaining permits from local municipalities. As a seasoned securities attorney, Ms. Austin also advises cannabis companies on funding strategies and the public markets. She is admitted to practice in California and Hawaii. Ms. Austin earned her B.A. degree from San Diego State University; M.A. degree from San Diego State University; and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Thomas Jefferson School of Law.

Aaron A. Pelley
is a partner in the Seattle office of Gleam Law. For the past 17 years, he has been at the legal forefront of the cannabis industry. Mr. Pelley has a long history of vigorously defending the interests of cannabis entrepreneurs, businesses, and investors, and contributing to key legislation and shaping the industry. Mr. Pelley provides comprehensive legal services related to cannabis regulation, compliance, and litigation, adeptly navigating complex legal landscapes. Mr. Pelley is a member of the National Cannabis Bar Association and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, Legal Committee member.

Tracy Ahr
is a shareholder in the Albuquerque law firm of Ahr Law Offices PC. She is a frequent speaker on the unique taxation issues faced by companies and enterprises involved in the sale and distribution of cannabis and cannabis-related products and services. Ms. Ahr holds a Juris Doctor, master's in business administration, and bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico, as well as a Master of Law in Taxation from the University of Florida. In addition to advising cannabis businesses, her practice focuses on tax, tax controversy, tax planning, and business dispositions and acquisitions. Since 2006, Ms. Ahr has been listed in Best Lawyers In America for the practice areas of tax law, tax litigation and employee benefits law, and has an AV rating from Martindale Hubble. She is admitted to practice law in New Mexico.

Savannah J. Hoover
works as a part-time transactional attorney at Ahr Law Offices, P.C. in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has worked with entrepreneurs, cannabis professionals, tech startups, sports teams, and creatives to protect their businesses through effective business formation, collaborative contracting, strategic expansion, and thoughtful partnerships. Ms. Hoover graduated from the University of New Mexico with her Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees and holds an interdisciplinary studies degree in outdoor adventure leadership and journalism. She is a member of the American Bar Association; Cannabis Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico; Business Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico; and Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of New Mexico. During graduate school, Ms. Hoover explored the intersection of technology, business, law, and the creative economy and how to reduce barriers to those spaces for women and BIPOC communities. She holds her license to practice law in the states of New Mexico and Texas.

Benjamin P. Sheppard
is an associate with the Allentown office of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., where he works on matters involving liquor law, cannabis law, and litigation. He handles a range of liquor law concerns, from distribution and contract production agreements to management and license agreements. In the rapidly evolving realm of cannabis law, Mr. Sheppard stands out for his deep insights into the intricate balance between state-specific and federal regulations governing both hemp and cannabis. His ability to navigate the nuances of the Pennsylvania industrial hemp research law makes him a valued advisor for individuals and businesses navigating this multifaceted law. Clients frequently turn to Mr. Sheppard for guidance in crafting drug testing policies and gaining clarity on the legal intricacies surrounding cannabis and hemp. He has advised both Pennsylvania and New Jersey individuals on their state's respective cannabis and hemp laws. Throughout his career, Mr. Sheppard has been involved in various aspects of the litigation process. Mr. Sheppard has drafted complex memorandums of law in both federal and state court, handled discovery requests, and handled trials from start to finish. Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, Mr. Sheppard served as a judicial law clerk in the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas. He also worked for the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project reviewing trial transcripts and drafting materials regarding the viability of innocence claims. Mr. Sheppard is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Law, where he was a member of the Public Contract Law Journal and was recognized with the GW Law Pro Bono Teal Award for completing over 50 hours of pro bono work during law school. He also graduated, summa cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh with his B.A. degree in history and political science.
